@shibier ; Host countries push their events or lobby for events. When Japan hosted 1964 olympics, they brought Judo. When Korea hosted Olympics, they brought taekawando. India lobbied for Kabaddi. This time Indonesia brought their pet martial art events.

India pushed Tennis in Commonwealth games because we are strong. Later hosts removed them. Now Birmingham-future hosts- has removed Shooting as they are weak in it. They will bring events like Roller skating and improve their medal tally.

Hosts do that,eg)If India hosts these,India can include games like Chess,Carton,kho kho etc.

BCCI has exclusive rights over cricket. They dont allow participation in Asian Games. They dont even allow participation in any T20 tournaments like Bangladesh, Caribbean.
