Top 10 least paid players in ISL 2018-19

Some of these names are yet to make their senior debut for their respective sides.

Since the inception of the Indian Super League (ISL) in the country, domestic football have seen an uprising and a huge influx of investment. As a result, the domestic players are being paid better than ever. Clubs are lining up for talented youngsters or experienced veterans and splurging for their services.

However, despite all the glitz and glamour brought in by ISL, not all players receive a good share of the cake. While many players are paid fairly, there are many who are still taking home less than they probably deserve.

Therefore, we have compiled a list of top 10 least paid players in the ISL 2018/19. The information was garnered from an article published on the official website of the league.

    10. Jakob Valalhlimpuia - ₹3,00,000

The 19-year-old starts off our list. The youngster plays as a winger for FC Pune City and has featured in only one game yet. Hanging on the fringes, the boy from Mizoram is waiting for his moment on the big stage.

    9. Saviour Gama - ₹3,00,000

The FC Goa defender recently joined the ISL and takes home 3,00,000 for his services to the club. The youngster was also a part of the FC Goa reserve squad and is yet to play for the senior team.

    8. Zakeer Mundampara - ₹2,50,000

The 28-year-old plays for Kerala Blasters FC as a midfielder. An experienced figure in the ISL, Zakeer has also featured for Chennaiyin and Mumbai City FC as well.

    7. Vishal Das - ₹2,40,000

Graduated from Tata Football Academy, the 19-year-old takes home ₹2.40 lakhs, but is yet to feature for Jamshedpur FC. He went for the pre-season with the senior squad, having promoted from Jamshedpur FC B.

    6. Mobashir Rahman - ₹2,40,000

Another Jamshedpur FC player to feature on our list. The 20-year-old midfielder is slowly moving up the ranks and has clocked in 63 minutes in two appearances for the club.

    5. Gourav Mukhi - ₹2,40,000

The third Men of Steel player in the list, Gourav Mukhi is an upcoming starlet. The youngster has made three appearances for his side till now, scoring one goal and setting up another. The controversy around the authenticity of his age has also kept the young player amongst the headlines. Perhaps a pay rise is in the offing for the prodigy.

    4. Seiminmang Manchong - ₹2,16,000

He was last part of the Delhi Dynamos FC reserves squad and impressed in the 2nd Division I-League and as a result, got a call-up to the senior team. The 18-year-old forward has made one appearance in the current season of the ISL for the Dynamos till now.

    3. Anuj Kumar - ₹1,80,000

The young goalkeeper plies his trade for FC Pune City. Hailing from Uttar Pradesh, the custodian is a third choice option and makes just under the ₹2 Lakh mark. He is yet to make an appearance for the senior squad.

    2. Lalhmangaihsanga - ₹1,10,000

The 18-year-old defender from FC Goa makes a little over ₹1 lakh and is yet to make a senior appearance. He will be looking for any opportunity to impress the management and perhaps gain a raise as a result.

    1. Asheer Akhtar - ₹55,000

The infamous tag of being the least paid player in the ISL falls on the Bengaluru FC defender, Asheer Akhtar. The 23-year old hailing from Maharashtra has yet to make an appearance in the ISL 2018/19. He was pushed up to the senior squad after putting in solid performances for Bengaluru FC ‘B’.
