Even if he got one, he wouldn't be in the team. Constantine only wants ISL players. Even Salam Ranjan plays because the clerk made a mistake.

Williams didnt get Indian Citizenship. Even Michael Chopra is waiting for his citizenship !!!  Those who are really serious like Arata will not beat so many drums.
They are only after catchy headlines and free ka publicity !!!  Just because they are not saying no, it does not mean that they are becoming citizen. It is very very complicated process.

Iraq football's very own "Gourav Mukhi case" ;) B)

AFC Asian Cup 2019: The tournament’s youngest player might not be the youngest after all

In one of the most baffling cases of age fraud in the sport, Iraq’s striker Mohanad Ali might just not be the youngest player at only 18 years and 6 months in the upcoming AFC Asian Cup 2019.

According to reports in Ahdaaf, which are from last year, the Iraq international’s real name is Hassan Ali Kadhim, which he used while representing Al-Shurta and Al-Kahraba, and he was born in 1997, contrary to the claims and a court ruling which term him an 18-year-old, and born in 2000 instead.

Story behind the name and age

The striker was accused of using his younger brother’s documents to obtain a passport which made him eligible to play in the AFC U-14 Championship in Tehran in 2014. His brother went by the name of Mohanad Ali Kadhim, the name which he uses now, as the report clearly states. Incidentally, he was the top scorer of the tournament then.

Later, it was reportedly revealed that the player has been using his brother’s name and he was forced to use his real name – Hassan Ali Kadhim- instead. As a result of which, the Iraq FA, in order to avoid any sanctions, chose against calling up the player for the national teams of various age groups.

The player, thus, wasn’t able to obtain a passport under the name Mohanad Ali Kadhim.

    Court clears the player

However, as the report goes on to state, an Iraq court ruled in favour of the player last year, clearing him of any wrongdoings. The court said that because the player had already represented Iraq in an international competition and his documents were already registered with AFC, with his year of birth marked as 2000, he was free to apply for passport under the name Mohanad Ali Kadhim.

The striker is now set to represent Iraq at the AFC Asian Cup, having made his debut for the senior team in December last year with six goals in 10 matches already to his name. While there are no question marks over his goalscoring ability, his exact date of birth remains under a grey area.

guys.. just going through the predictions

    http://forum.indianfootballnetwork.com/discussion/2080/afc-asian-cup-2019/p1

baring shanks_dehighliving, others are over-estimating Thailand & Bahrain...

Bahrain are NO more a force in Asia..

Even Thai haven't done much in 3rd round FIFA world cup qualifiers ( baring few games)..

If we can hold-off China & Oman.. we can hold Thai & Bahrain as well.. if we can score couple of goals in either of the games.. we can target for 4 points and knock-out stage..

only tough game will be UAE one..
    My Prediction :-
    India 1-1 Thailand
    India 0-3 UAE
    India 2-1 Bahrain

AFC Asian Cup 2019: Total prize money revealed for competition

With the AFC Asian Cup 2019 just around the corner, 24 countries are hoping for one goal – and that is to lift the title and be crowned as champions.

However, there is certainly more than winning a trophy in arguably the biggest continental competition, there is a corresponding prize money attached to being champions that will certainly help the winning nation moving forward.

And as stated earlier by AFC, this 2019 edition is set to be the richest in history as a total prize money of nearly USD $15 million is up for grabs.

    IT PAYS TO BE PART

Not just for champions or finalists, but simply taking part in the AFC Asian Cup will bring in an impressive USD $200,000 to the national team.

That’s an incredible $4,800,000 among the 24 participating nations.

    REACHING THE KNOCKOUT STAGES

Of course, reaching the knockout stages comes with its perks and even losing in the semis will bring in $1 million each.

With two semi-finalists pocketing it, the total cash prize given away at this point is at $6,800,000.

    ADDED INCENTIVES FOR THE FINALISTS

Outside of being crowned as two of the best in the region, the finalists are also in for big money just for being the final two teams.

The runners-up are going to pocket $3 million while the champions will get a whopping $5 million.

This brings a grand total of $14,800,000 in cash prizes in the AFC Asian Cup.

Finally, this is a big difference from the last edition when there was no prize money given out and this should be more than enough incentive for national teams to go all out.

Excited to watch this Game. I hope things will change this time. Last we played with UAE at Al ain world cup qualifiers and lost badly. Still remember Subrata Got red card within 3 min of that match match. I think UAE are going to take india lightly which is plus point to us.
