Luckily no Maldivian clubs are there as Chennaiyin would get beaten badly by them. Chennaiyin should be able to win against Manag and Minerva and draw against Abahani at least
Chennaiyin FC to play AFC Cup group stage matches in Ahmedabad
Former Indian Super League (ISL) champion Chennaiyin FC will be playing the home fixtures of its 2019 AFC Cup group stage at The Arena by TransStadia, Ahmedabad, the club confirmed on Sunday.
Chennaiyin played the home leg of its two-legged qualifying playoff against Colombo FC in Ahmedabad as playing a Sri Lankan opponent in Tamil Nadu was not politically conducive.
The ISL side will face Nepal's Manang Marshyangdi Club, Bangladesh's Abahani Limited Dhaka including the opening leg against last season's I-League champion Minerva Punjab for supremacy in the Group E.
The club had requested for permission from SDAT (Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu) to host the group stage matches at Chennai. But by the time the approvals were received from SDAT, significant financial commitments were made by the club towards The Arena by TransStadia and in order to fulfill those obligations the club will play the home games of the group stage in Ahmedabad.
The club stated that it will make no further comment on the recent development.

GAME PREVIEW
Chennaiyin FC managed to edge out Colombo FC and confirm their place in group stage of the AFC Cup. They will start their campaign by locking horns with I-League side Minerva Punjab FC who after getting knocked out for a spot in the AFC Champions League, find themselves in the AFC Cup.
After a dismal season, Jeje Lalpekhlua has found his scoring boots with two goals in consecutive matches. He netted the winner against Colombo FC while also opening the scoring in the Round of 16 match in Super Cup against Mumbai City. Minerva Punjab will have to remain on their toes against the Mizo Sniper to prevent him from doing further damage.
Most matches are won and lost in midfield and this one might turn out to be no different. Both teams have enough creativity in the centre of the park to dominate proceedings.
Anirudh Thapa will have his hands full as he will have the onus to keep Mahmoud Al-Amna in check. The Syrian has been in good form and Minerva's attack has found some purpose after his inclusion. He has the capability to change the complexion of any match with his passing and distribution skills and Chennaiyin must be wary of this threat.
On the other hand, much will depend on Chris Herd and Raphael Augusto if Chennaiyin want to win the three points. Amandeep Singh has fared reasonably well in I-League and the youngster must put his best foot forward to contain Augusto from influencing the game.
Minerva Punjab are leaving no stone unturned to do well in the continental competition and they have roped in Shillong Lajong skipper Samuel Lalmuanpuia and Aizawl FC's defender Kareem Nurain on a three-month loan.
Samuel is known to be a set-piece specialist and he can turn out to be an invaluable addition to the squad. Chennaiyin also have players who are strong in the air and therefore, the side who will be able to make the most of dead-ball situations might turn out to be the victor.
The two sides will be meeting for the very first time in their history and we can expect a cracker of a match on Wednesday evening in Gujarat.
