Problem is untested defence who didnt even play in ISL. Its going to be tough and cannot be state as true measure of improvement. But this is where clubs falter. They should have their bench ready. Fir FCGoa defence bench strength isnt
Yah.. that should be fine. We all know , now FC Goa cannot win this game/score goals. It will be true test for their defense & resistance. Even 1 point would be an achievement.
Also FC Goa coach leaving Spain and this game will be a test for Clifford Miranda as well
Eventually ISL will have to increase the no. of teams. A 10 team league is a joke! And we have so many parts of India still unrepresented in terns of football. The entire UP-Uttarakhand-Bihar-MP-Rajasthan-Guharat-Haryana belt is not represented at all! I think more corporate houses should be invited to form city based franchises especially in these states. Cities like Lucknow, Jaipur, Bhopal, Ahmedabad, Gurgaon, Patna etc can easily support such football franchises. We cannot sustain the national team with a 18 match league! Also AIFF should make state federations start local state level leagues. Else we cannot continue in this way.
12 team league with 3 legs ( Home, Away & Home/Neutral venue games) would be excellent to start with. 11 existing teams + Gokulam Kerala ( I league champions) Considering covid situation, it may not be possible this season. I'm wishing atleast this will happen starting from 2022-23 season. Players will get to play 33 games + Federation/Super cup games.
I don't see any logic in having teams from Hindi heartland (where football is not at all popular) who would stuff their team with NE guys and provide only lip service to local development. Think of teams from Pune -- Ileague and ISL.
I would anytime welcome teams from Kerala or Bengal. I wouldn't mind a team or two from NE itself, but they have to based in NE.
