Champions League East Zone starts today. 4 teams each from Japan, South Korea & Thailand, 2 from China and 1 each from Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore & Indonesia. Also a playoff between China & Philippines.
Thailand is lucky to have 4 teams in Champions League. Thai clubs will get to play 24 games (6*4) and we can see improvement of Thailand NT players after this group stage.
I see that Safawi Rasid is back at Johor. He didn't make a single appearance for Portimonense. Your typical gimmick signing designed to sell shirts I guess.
Two Filipino clubs will be playing in the group stage of the Champions League after Kaya FC beat Shanghai Port, who didn't bring half their squad for the playoff match for unexplained reasons (possibly a COVID-19 outbreak in their camp).
AFC Champions league East is now a joke . Chinese clubs sent youth teams and australians teams withdrew . Good for Asean teams as they can gather some wins now and boost MA ranking .Current system is just favouring Asean teams from last 3 years .
AFC should do away with east and west. This will help central and south asian clubs who have just one group in afc cup and have to face clubs from their own country or face very strong teams in champions league . Also this will enable a proper MA ranking table and allocations to continental competitions.

Now ASEAN and SAFF remains. AFC couldn't find host for both the zones.
