Under scorching sun and on slushy pitch with a relative humidity of 80-85% they are going to have time of their life.

That is why an Indian coach or a foreign coach familiar with Indian conditions would have been more suitable for MSC (since I guess it is the coach who is choosing these foreigners).

But the all-knowing MSC officials seem more interested in the profile of the coach!! B)

Daniel Sturridge to ISL as marquee player?
As Marcus said, no Transfer Fee and a wage of 1.5 million USD (City could definitely afford this imo) could be okay with him.
Has 200+ Premier League Appearances, Played in FIFA World Cup.

    thoughts?
1.5 million $ for a very old player looking for last pay cheque is a  no brainer for indian clubs. It is better if they can invest in a younger player and make money by selling them later on . Veteran Marquee player is a failed concept based on previous performances in the league . If any club still goes for it they are the biggest fools with deep pockets.

I Agree, but I'm pretty sure that most young players doesnt want to come here. They tend to lean more towards MLS etc... cuz Pro Clubs scout from those leagues.

There are two things, one is money another is exposure for future. ISL has money but failed to provide a good platform for exposure. Hence youngsters until and unless overpaid by fluffy margin, will not come. Considering they have an appetite for better playing opportunities. Edinho Jr, Bright are exceptions. Old players will not be useful in AFC competitions.
On the other hand, bringing a right Marquee can help a lot if he can act as a mentor come player and stay for four five consecutive years. (keeping aside the fact that they will attract inorganic fans too) However, I personally did not see any of them even try to be a mentor. Elano and Luis Garcia were exceptional in the 1st season but thats all. Robbie Kean, Barbetov, Rise, Roberto Carlos, Anelka, nobody left any impact on Indian football (Helder Postiga remained wounded most of the time). Hence better opt out for old age player with tag unless they are like Podolski, Iniesta, Paulinho (still did not understand why FCB released him), Lavezzi etc,

It is high time that ISL clubs look at young asian talent . They will come much cheaper and provide more on the field than old players. Central asians clubs have done pretty well in asian competitions without any foreigners. Also players from lower middle east teams who play for their national team might provide plenty of value to team and can create a fanbase for ISL.
