Durand Cup 2023
The 132nd edition of the Durand Cup is set to commence on August 3, 2023 and the nation is bracing itself to witness Asia’s oldest and one of India’s most prestigious competitions. The tournament is hosted by the Durand Football Tournament Society in co-operation with the AIFF, Eastern Command of the Indian Armed Forces and the Government of West Bengal, supported by the government of Assam.
This will be the second season of the tournament wherein all 12 clubs from the top-tier Indian Super League have been mandated to participate, along with the top clubs from I-League, and teams representing the armed forces. Service teams from Nepal and Bangladesh will also be a part of the Durand Cup this year. Bengaluru FC are the defending champions.
Format
Group stage
The 24 teams participating in the 2023 Durand Cup have been divided into six groups of four teams each. The teams in every group will play against each of their group opponents once in a round-robin format. Once all the teams have faced each of their group opponents, the team on the top of the table will qualify for the knockouts. The two best second-placed teams will also advance to the knockout stages.
Knockout stages
In the knockout stages, eight qualified teams will play the quarter finals, from where on, four winners will make it to the semis, and then the final two. All knockout fixtures will be single-legged games.

The 2023 Durand Cup will be played across three different cities and five stadiums.
