Japan did well against England... these type of games could go either way.. Japan in QF would have been good for Asia..

anyone watched Mali vs Iraq game.. based on the stats.. I feel 5-1 very harsh for Iraq... also seems to be their top player, Mohammed Dawood is not eligible to play..

Hypocrites of MB Management talking about "youth development" must think of correcting its own academy even if there is one.

I agree that the u-17 kids needs to play in I-league or ISL rather than train separately.

Even playing against Indian clubs will give valuable on pitch experience to the boys rather than making them play all over the globe against u-18 teams.

  • I was at the stadium yesterday and 1 thing I noticed. The Japanese players physique was no where near that of England, yet japan plays one of the greatest brand of football in Asia. They seemed like class 5 infront of the English players when they were ppractising. Its the skill that takes them apart from other nations in Asia and also Japan has developed a very good culture in football at every level including youth structure

The problem with playing in the "Arrows system" in the I-League is like extending the same thinking of the U-17 " dream team"
Put all your resources into 1 age group and 1 group of 20 to 30 players at that too.

Here is the names of the 1st batch of the Arrows ( our old friend @rudra knows all too well about this batch )

    1. Ravi Kumar (Transferred from Tata Football Academy )
    2. Vishal Kumar Ravindra (Transferred from HAL Bangalore )
    3. Shouvik Ghosh (Transferred from Chirag Utd )
    4. Aksay Vimal Kumar (Transferred from Gujarat F.A)
    5. Milan Singh (Transferred from Churchill Brothers
    6. Lalrindika Ralte(Transferred from Churchill Brothers
    7. Jagatar Singh (Transferred from Mohan Bagan
    8. Malsawmfela(Transferred from Salgaocar , Goa
    9. Inderpreet Singh(Transferred from Salgaocar , Goa
    10. Shilton D'Silva(Transferred from Mahindra Utd
    11. Prathamesh Maulinkar(Transferred from Dempo , Goa
    12. Vikramjit Singh(Transferred from Chandigarh F.A)
    13. Thirthankar Sarkar(Transferred from Salgaocar , Goa
3 of this batch of 13 are playing in the ISL right now
Vishal Kumar, won the league twice with BFC and the Fed Cup but will play 2nd Div after last being seen at Minerva
Malsawmfela is topping the goalscoring in MPL but cannot do much else apart from Chennai league after that
Shilton D'Silva was unlucky with injuries but will be solid for Mohan Bagan this season

The rest have either quit football or are off the main radar

With each batch  , the list is the same... where are the Shaiju Min's, Sonu Beniwal , Chingkhei Yumnam's etc

    ----
Also note that all these were with clubs at the time , as these clubs had a lot of competitions to play like. Had the youth leagues been strengthened or a U-23 league been put in place instead of a U-23 team , the benefits would've been greater

Evidently, Mohun Bagan Officials should learn from Chennaiyin FC' academy ( :D ) as far as youth development is concerned.

An imbecile will do a better job in running a club if he got 100 years time and with the funds he has access to.

    Two players skip camp

    Our Special Correspondent

New Delhi: India's two non-resident Indian footballers, Namit Deshpande and Sunny Dhaliwal, who were drafted in the India under-17 team for the World Cup as "future investment", have not joined the under-19 camp here for the Asian qualifiers.

"The two have gone back to their respective countries and are unlikely to join the camp. I believe they have gone back because of some academic reasons," a source in the All India Football Federation (AIFF) said.

The issue is likely to kick off a controversy as a section of the officials in the federation had expressed reservations about the selections of midfielder Deshpande and goalkeeper Dhaliwal before the start of the U-17 World Cup.

While Deshpande is from the US, Dhaliwal is from Canada.
