Is it true that Chirag Computers (Ex-Owners of United SC - Chirag United) are planning to sponsor Viva Kerala?

Olympic team performances, JCT news, now this, and maybe a senior team debacle in UAE...I don't even like to comment on all the discussions going on....too depressing

Not, surprising that there are only a handful of us who are bothering to discuss Indian football. its dead long time. But we already know that. And we came into this knowing everything. So, getting frustrated or depressed is perhaps not the option for us.

I find it funny that we – probably the clubs as well – are thinking this as a sponsorship deal, but the ‘sponsors’ are thinking in terms of ownership. Chirag owner Mr Koustubh Roy is quite clear about this: he is not happy in getting the visibility (if there is any), he just wants to own a football club, period.

And the prospect of Viva Kerala moving base to Kolkata (and probably renaming itself as Viva Chirag) is real, not imaginary. Pailan OWNS Indian Arrows, not just sponsors them, otherwise why would the club have to shift base? MB/ EB did not have to shift to Bangalore even if their ‘sponsor’ was from the garden city. Nor did Churchill have to move to Kerala. In Europe, they do not have to attach the sponsor’s name in front of the club’s name.

I think, like everything else in Indian football, the sponsorship aspect is also very murky …

    +100

I has always said that if Indian football has to be made popular it needs to be done through NT. Cluib football cant popularise football in a country where the game is played in selected areas..
