"We are awaiting a written confirmation from Fifa and AFC. Once we get the confirmation, we will convene a meeting of the clubs and explain these rules. Once we make ourselves clear, there will be no escaping," said Das.
Until a couple of days before the team's departure, India's three-match tour of the Caribbean was shrouded in darkness. Five clubs had defied orders and the impression given was that the AIFF were dancing to their tune. Das himself had personally visited and met with officials of Kolkata clubs, East Bengal and Mohun Bagan, hoping to convince them to release the players.
But, contrary to popular perception, Das maintained neither he nor the federation were in the mood for selective appeasement. "I happened to be in Kolkata to clear a few issues concerning Pailan Arrows and the Argentina-Venezuela friendly. It was precisely at this time that the controversy over release of players broke out and I thought there was nothing wrong in giving the clubs a hearing. The AIFF's approach has always been participative," explained Das.

New Delhi: The All India Football Federation (AIFF)’s hopes of staging an India-Pakistan series in England were dashed on Thursday when the organisers cancelled the tour because of riot-related problems.
“We have just been informed by the organisers, Touchsky Sports that the tour has been cancelled,” an AIFF official told The Telegraph. “They have requested us to postpone the tour but to revive it on a later date this season would be a huge problem,” he added.
