Wow. I am surprised no one started this topic yet.

Anyway for those new to Indian Football the I-League 2nd Division is the 2nd Division of Football in India right below the I-League. Right now the 2011 Winners were Lajong and runners-up were Sporting Goa.

Also does anyone know when the league will start again.

ya I just relized there was a second thread list on the Other Football Tournaments section. Either way I still believe this should be here. I

it is just being run for the sake of it which angers me the most
  • Right now as soon as the I-League is sorted out they should work on the 2nd Division. This should almost be like the English Championship which is England's second division.

A good 10 team league. Home and Away series.

My Proposed Teams: (These 6 are automatically in the league)
    United Sikkim F.C.
    Gauhati Town Club
    Josco FC
    Mohammedan Sporting Club
    Vasco S.C.
    Royal Wahingdoh F.C.

These clubs will do qualifiers to decide the next 4:
    Delhi United
    Hindustan FC
    Southern Samity
    Denzong Boys FC
    Ar-Hima
    Malabar United
    Kenkre FC
    Eagles FC

Then after a good 18 games the top and second place team moves on. OR if you want... the top team goes up then the second, third, fourth, and fifth place teams will play a good all play-off round to determine the next team.

    Hang on ArsenalFan....
Gauhati Town Club missed the final phase as did Josco, so now way they should be in the automatic spot.
Move up Southern Samity & Ar-Hima from the list below.

Also you forgot Bhowanipur & Techno Aryan from the Kolkata League & George Telegraph who are interested in playing Division-2

    From Mumbai you have PIFA
From Delhi you missed Simla Youngs
From Goa we also have club SESA
Shillongs 3rd 2nd Division team are Langsning FC, they just missed final phase last time and are leading the Shillong League again
Oil India and NISA will once again make a bid for the 2nd Division

BEML from Bangalore faked the criteria fulfillment last time so shouldn't make it this time.

    Regional groups would be better.

Gaffer I am well aware of those results from last year. The reason I let go of clubs like Techno and George Telegraph because...
    1) There are way to many Kolkata teams. Don't get me wrong the club from Kolkata are awesome but there is way to many that in fact next season in I-League we could have 5 clubs from Kolkata if Chirag moves there.
    2) Would they pass FIFA/AFC regulations. Techno I think would but Telegraph will have trouble as they are a commercial club which is what we are trying to get away from in Indian Football.

Also give Gauhati Town time. This was there first ever season in I-League 2nd Division. They will do fine in my opinion. Also now that you mention Kenkre FC that could give them the automatic spot instead of Josco FC. Either way though it is not as if any of these things will happen as all these clubs are too low on cash that a regional league would cost so much.

NPL champions to get shot in I-League

Nagaland’s official football league - the Nagaland Premier League (NPL) – received a shot in the arm with the confirmation that the champions of NPL would have a shot at the I-League, India’s top tier football league. This adds fresh momentum to the league as it inches towards kick off for its first ever season.

The NPL paves way for the winning club to be a part of the AIFF Second Division League - the winners and runners-up of the I-League 2nd Division are automatically promoted to the I-League, thus giving the NPL champions an opportunity to fight for a slot in the prestigious I-League.”

This is great news. A great way to spread out the league.
