  • European clubs playing football in India in May-June time-frame is a crazy idea. Those guys will never be able to withstand hot n humid Indian summer even if its under the floodlights. They will give up in 15 mins. of the game.

Barcelona play in South-East Spain which is pretty hot as well so I bet they can get used to it. Plus they will be bringing in there Reserves (plus Messi etc) because of Euro 2012 and the Olympics 2012. I bet Pep will play one team for 45 minutes than a new squad for the final 45 minutes.

dy patil stadium didn't refuse but asked for too much money for use of the stadium from AIFF..
yes they asked in excess of Rs 13 lakh per match
they never were in mood to remove the pitch and thereby affecting their chances to host mumbai indians matches that was the reason why they asked for more money in turn was to be rejected...these guys are indian politicians and so easily crazy of money...
now that ipl matches being held held there would be reduced they thought of going for some high profile football matches...

They won't do the I-League because they know the crowds would be weak for what the DY Patil is but a Barca game would generate huge crowds because of so called die hard Barca fans

Now I hate this attitude of cursing people for not favouring football and also think this is utterly foolish to do so. They have not invested 1000 Crore for charity. They owe the money to public investors and have the responsibility to get them profit out of it. Why should they give the stadium for nuts and remove the pitch and loose the IPL pie?? Its the AIFF who has to come out of its begging mentality.
