Changing the old traditional format to just fit in extra 2 teams is a bad idea.Play-off's,double group system are not great.

If the AIFF and IMG want an Major League Soccer based league then they should go back and see how MLS started in 1996. 1996 MLS started with 10 teams. We should have 10 teams to, 12 at most for the first year. Then there are other things that MLS did in 96 that really set the course for the next 17 years.
This would take out a lot of sheen. The level of competition will go down. Right now u see 4-5 teams claiming for title and equal number of teams fighting to stave off relegation. I like the traditional league format

Since when CMG said they are modeling PLS on MLS lines (see, they sound similar!), AIFF-IMGR panicked, googled (they never heard of MLS till then), and hurriedly copied some part from MLS (again, they could not figure out what is what; but the logic is: since CMG copied MLS and garnered so much money, THAT must be good).

Like it or not, we will be force-fed MLS.
LOL, I wont be surprised the google thing was true!

lol nice one... But at least they learn to googling.
How are we going to be fed the MLS. The MLS is not bad! I had it with people saying we should go for a 100% J.League or Euro model. THAT WONT WORK IN INDIA! Maybe a mix of MLS and J.League can work but MLS is a league we should copy. What I am not happy about though is that AIFF is wanting to copy EVERYTHING ABOUT MLS. If they want to google MLS then they should look at this...
with all the cries about the logistics. and the MLS typos tghing slated to come in ,we can tweak it to out indian mentalities.
First of all Division 1: 16 teams ,div 2 16 teams , 5 conference zones, Eastern,Western,Southern,Northern and North Eastern
now why i am against the east and west conference in top divsion is the lack of teams coming out the region
every year we would be having the same clubs fighitng agaisnt each other in the conference say in the western it would,PFC,MFC,AI,CB,DMP,SAL,SCG ..
so these fans wont be able to witness SLFC,USFC,MB,KEB,MS,Aizawl, arhima etc.
so what i propose is have 16 teams in div 1 ..divide those teams each year by draw into two groups.
for eg group 1 will have: PFC,SLFC,AI,ONGC,DMP,SAL,MS,MB and group 2 have: CUK,USFC,MFC,HAL,PA,SCG,EB,CB
now have round robin of these two groups..
Select top 4 from each to go to the super division playoffs whatever it will be called.
say PFC,SLFC<AI<DMp qualify from grp1 and PA,EB<CB,USFC qualify from second group.
now for the remained of the teams again divide them into 2 groups of 4 each. and have them play each other .,,one team from each group qualifies to the super divison playoffs. now we have 10 teams in the super div playoffs, so these again will play round robin to decide the winner of the I league.
now the last 6 remaining will fight it out in round robin to avoid relegation . the last two teams will get relegated to div 2.
Same format for divison two ... just the winnners and the runners up take the i league div

16 teams divided into 8 teams each in east & west,
4 top teams from east & west qualify for playoffs?

If they read all of this they would be able to see what the real way to run a football league in India is.
