Goal.com lifts the lid on the politics, involving an out of favour midfielder, that led to the sacking of the Sri Lankan Nizam Packeer Ali.....
Chirag United Kerala have stated that Packeer Ali will no longer be at the helm of affairs at the club with Biswajit Bhattacharya set to be appointed as the technical director.
Goal.com can now exclusively reveal the mess behind the scenes that has led to the popular Sri Lankan’s exit, as a top source close to the club lifted the lid on a conspiracy hatched by an out-of-favour player and the club management.
The source, under the condition of anonymity, revealed, “When Packeer Ali was returning to Sri Lanka, a conspiracy was brewing in Kolkata to sack him, instigated by a Chirag United Kerala midfielder.”
“The manager is now set to return to Kochin on 23rd February and will be told to pack his bags and return back to Sri Lanka.”
The informant lamented, “Chirag have improved so much after he took over. The team improved even though he didn’t have a full pre-season and only lost matches against the big teams after playing well, missing several chances to score.”
“While the ‘Kolkata people’ (implying the owners) say there was no planning and bad strategy under him, if you asked the players, they would tell you how much of a popular figure he was in the dressing room and how much they learnt from him,” he continued.
“I hope the players do not rebel after the sacking of Packeer Ali,” he further added.
A close confidant of the coach, the source, also added further fuel to the fire by naming the player who was involved in the conspiracy. He stated, “The player who was involved in this plot is Suman Dutta. He is not fit to be in the team. We have better players in the team so he could never get in. The simple motto at the club was the fittest to survive and the coach had no soft corner for any player or favourites.”
“The club had better midfielders and all that Dutta does is talk a lot. He has used his connections with Rana Bandyopadhyay (Vice President, Chirag Computers) to get the coach sacked."
Our informant also rued all the good work that would come undone and doubts whether a new coach could save the club. He mentioned, “After the win against Air India, the team seemed to be reaching its best level. The morale was high and I do not know what a new coach can do if the confidence amongst the players now breaks down after this move."

“Any coach should resign after losing four-to-five matches. We have lost 13 matches this season,” said Dutta.
“After the loss against HAL, the team manager had called for a meeting. The localplayers didn’t speak much as they generally fear for their chances given that this is the only team in the I-League from their state. I opined that probably we needed to increase the competition amongthe players so that they give out their best for the team.
“If the players who aren’t performing are made to sit out, they shall work harder to come back whereas the players who shall get the chance will try to impress the coach,” he reasoned.
“The style and tactics of the coach was good but he never made any changes to the team. He stuck by the same players for good six-to-seven matches even though results weren’t going our way. Logic suggests that you would at least make oneor two changes or try something different.
“Before the match against HAL, we played a match against Eagles in Kerala. After the game, the coach told the players that I wasthe man of the match in that game. Still I wasn’t included in the line-up for the next I-League game which surprised me,” said Dutta.

Please Dutta, tell that to Steve Kean, Arsene Wenger, AVB and the likes. Such an idiot! Ali was doing so well.
First of all , I think Sumon Dutta should withdraw
his words, as I have not given any comments about
him in the media, it would have been some fan I
think who have knows Sumon's caliber and made
the comment. Also Sumon Dhutta should
understand , at this moment in what level , fitness, physical strength, capabilities in a high level
competition he is in...Its not only I who knows it ,
but the whole team knows about it, even the
technical staff. This is not a pre season time to test
players as per his version, it is post season where
competition matches are played..secondly he joined the team half way when the tournament was going
on..., A qualified and experienced coach will never
try experiments when the competition is on and me
I had 7 days only for pre - season training - had to
set the team - injuries and yellow cards were piling
on and also I had better quality, physically and mentally, creative and positive players in the dug
out and outside too...
Ali was doing well!!! <!-- s:angry-screaming: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/angry/screaming.gif" alt=":angry-screaming:" title="Screaming" /><!-- s:angry-screaming: -->
