Regulation 3 of the latest edition of the FIFA Statues from July 2012. This covers the scenarios where a player not born in the relevant national association may still represent the national team: [the player’s] biological mother or biological father was born on the territory of the relevant Association; or [the player’s] grandmother or grandfather was born on the territory of the relevant Association; or [the player] has lived continuously on the territory of the relevant Association for at least five years after reaching the age of 18
AIFF have again started a new PIO Issue to overshadow their incompatibility and callousness over performing the right steps to take our nations forward.Instead of scouting for raw talents and nurturing them ,these stupid assh**es are again trying for the short cut but they are forgetting that what they are looking for is not a real success..Its like a mirage in the desert..(unless we get a continuous source of PIO players year after year)..What will happen when these old butts get older?again search for for younger foreign butts?AIFF please do the basics what you supposed to do and being entrusted to do by millions of fans..instead of chasing the golden deer hold onto your cows, donkeys whatever you got.One day with proper care and guidance they are bound to become horses....We are waiting for that day..
Indian origin players can represent India with PIO card of OCI Cards ! FIFA have no issue with it ! so even it will be easier for players and for us also
@7negi Players need to have passport. The difference is that in that case players have two passport-one of their country where they live and one of where they want to play. I think @Shah once told here that there UK based Pakistan players have British Passport as well as Pakistan Passport. I remember one USA Basketball player was also have Russia Passport to play for Russia. Our India Government will not allow dual citizenship and just OCI card is not enough. Once you allow for sportsperson, then you will have to allow dual passport or dual citizenship for all people. Again I may be wrong. someone has to dig through FIFA rules book.
@mohammed_87hassan OCI Card or PIO Card is not citizenship. They are just lifelong visas and permission to buy property (that also non agricultural) and operate Bank accounts. A person of PIO or OCI card has Foreign passport where he/she lives. http://www.immihelp.com/nri/pio-vs-oci.html
No Munna FIFA has made clear that OCI card can be used as a identity proof and players can play for India with OCI card ! Now AIFF is trying to push matter to Sports ministry first and then PMO !
How honest is AIFF's effort? I don't believe them at all. What were they doing for this long? It is not that India started playing badly only in this year.

AIFF Officials quoted to saying if government allow then PIO can play with PIO cards ?
Don't think passport is mentioned
OCI card can be considered as Citizenship I think
[the player’s] biological mother or biological father was born on the territory of the relevant Association; or

[the player] has lived continuously on the territory of the relevant Association for at least five years after reaching the age of 18
