i dont think break out league will be created , a lot of legal question will be raised as to who will represent the official league..FIFA will always consider AIFF run league as the official one...I think even teh AIFF knows the IPL-ball will not meet AFC criteria
The meeting will decide the future course. IMG must come out with a plan where the regular clubs are made beneficiaries of the franchisee teams.

But I have a strong feeling that the IPL-like shitball is gonna fail big time. What they should have done instead is revamp the I-league with all that money. Make having one international icon player compulsary. Give loan grants to clubs for building fan-base and promoting extensively. Improve the grounds, install floodlights. And then add all the fancy things associated with IPL. That should be it.

could not agree more with you...!! why not spend the money and ideas on improving the I-league..it must be plain envy and jea;ousy from IMG-AIF that IFA could come up with this IPL style league BEFORE them and they were in the limelight for a good 4 months
• That probably it. IMG saw the popularity but I think they also missed the criticism of such a league as well. Football is played in 8-10 months at the professional level per season... not 2. Making a smaller I-League would kill the league, they obviously dont know football nor do they know how Asian football works. Its there own lala land.

Ill say this IPL will be good in a way for Indian football..the football world , the world media will focus on India fo rthese 2 months..If its well planned , will have decent facilities and teh play is exciting there will be denefits..it may not be directly seen..

BUT all this only after AIFF-IMF satisfy and Convince the I-League clubs and Improve teh I-league
• I dont see the "World Interest". I mean sure there will be those papers that say "India is the next big oil money league" and in American and Australia they will awe at the MLS/A-League structure being used but that is short living.

Eventually the AFC will deny India entry into AFC Champions League and AFC Cup. This is for both I-League and IPL. You have no idea how many things we wont pass if this is implemented. Also the media will die down when they see that these foreign stars are no where near the guys like Henry at MLS and Drogba at China. Henry and Drogba still have it. They can still play. Chelsea wanted him to stay but China doubled his salary. Henry had offers from West Ham (Premier League 2009-10) and Blackburn (2012) but he denied them. Guys like Jay-Jay and Crespo. What left can they offer. Robert Pires is no where near as good (as his Villa stint proved). Also if they will even give 100% is in doubt. Trust me, they are in it for the money and them paired with a bunch of Indians below there level wont cut it.

We should just focus on the stars in I-League and work to gradually improve it. Look at what we have, Carlos Hernandez, those two Lebanon internationals. Amiri from Afghan. We even have marketable youngsters like Jeje. This is what we should be focusing on. Not some messed up freak of nature.
