Frankly speaking all these years we were not doing anything...we were just waiting and waiting expecting the result to come by at our doorstep without real hard work...hard work starts now with proper planning and most importantly effective execution.... I am personally in favor of anything which develops Indian football...be it ISL, be it new I league...be it anything...I want to see indian football develop like anything
No club has fulfilled 'almost all criteria'. BFC and PFC are probably the closest to it. But in most part this fulfilling of criteria is an eyewash. Forming an U19 team just before U19 I-league by calling open trials, associating your name with a preexisting mediocre academy, opening a sham merchandize counter for the heck of it, no effort to market the clubs, farce of a social engagement etc are all done to fill up the forms.
The clubs who are not sincere in their effort should be done away with. A possible solution is to create an unofficial league involving the current teams and let it run the way it is running. Then float a tender to invite real corporate teams with strict guidelines. Give them a year to put the set up in place and then start the league next year.
Even better if the ISL franchisees decide to continue with the local players and available players after the ISL for a longer league. Then the longer league can be the official i-league and ISL can be like Fed Cup
The question is will this league, Indian Super League even happen? Let it start before we start talking about scraping our prestigious and only I-league in our country.
If you guys have time read this from Jefferson Slack. The interviewer asked if a franchise like Mumbai be like an Indian version of LA Lakers, I thought LA Galaxy was more acceptable than pulling in NBA into it.
Speaking of the AFC Criteria. Notice how in the majority of the top footballing nations in Asia they use more than the AFC Criteria. I can not speak for West Asia but look at East Asia. In Japan they have their own regulations. The A-League does so to. Same in Korea and I am sure China as well.
The AFC Criteria is just a basic criteria which is not really that hard to fulfill. The top nations use tighter and tougher rules.
This league will not fail; on the contrary, this will be very popular ... and by being popular and short duration, it will undermine I-league and thus fail Indian football for sure ...
PIFA hasn't produced any worthwhile footballers from their academy, so hopefully that will change with his entry. I hope better coaches and better facilities for the talented kids. They should atleast try to become TFA and SESA academy for the northern and western clubs.
