In the 1970s, Brabourne Stadium used to organise Dog Racing (Greyhound) for gambling purposes. Also Rovers Cup matches were organised there if Cooperage was unavailable. Nowadays management of CCI Brabourne Stadium is literally anti-sports. They do not want to organise anything. Just for the sake of organising some event to continue membership and vote of BCCI, they organise one tour match between Board President XI and visiting team which always flies into Mumbai. It is just a club and hospitality adda of rich businessman where they entertain there high profile guests and organise weddings, birthdays. Earlier it was dominated by Parsi community and Royal Princes who were Sports lovers. Now it is run by Gujarati Marwari Businessman who do not like Sports unless it is some Franchise based league (IPL Model) Andheri Stadium is a Shaadi venue and in free time it organise Filmfare type award functions. Nothing else.
Stevie Grieve. My God he can write a book every time he sits with Pen and Paper. Nice interview and he has highlighted correctly many issues plaguing Indian Football from Age Fraud, poor infrastructure, Role Models to poor investment by ISL. Good job!!! Stevie was also involved with Garhwal FC before. @7negi must be knowing more about him.
