Exactly! We shouldnt spend tax payers money on age frauds and under achievers. We should spend money on ensuring more baby leagues where kids details are registered on centralised data bases. A 6 month duration U13, U15 and U18 leagues, education for youth coaches. That's how you become a football power house.
Talking about baby leagues, Tamil nadu is the state who have started a lot of baby leagues across the state.. I am expecting a lot of future stars from Tamil nadu..North eastern states and West Bengal have also started large number of baby leagues..
@sam Despite whatever we all choose to believe about that u17 world cup side, the fact remains it gave a less than impressive display. That bunch was given everything - German and Portuguese coaches, numerous exposure trips to europe, best facilities, best equipments, they were kept together for more than 2-3 years...and what was the result? We lost all 3 games while conceding 9 goals in 3 matches while managing to score one lucky set piece!
But I m not even bothered about results as much as the manner in we played and lost. Did you guys notice our passing, off the ball movement, pressing, fitness (against Ghana in the second half our players stopped running). Fitness!! Can you imagine our overhyped team playing in hone conditions and yet not being able to cope with the climate while 17 year old kids from USA were coping much more better and outrunning us? Then whats the point of playing at home?
Matos did not play Komal thatal in 2 of our matches for God knows why, effectively keeping out India's most creative player in the side on the bench! Our passing was average, our movements were ok but our pressing and tackling was simple awful! And does anyone know how many shots did we take on opponent goal in all 3 matches combined? My guess is the number will not go into double digits. It was all about individuals running with the ball, neglecting to pass at the right moment and then easily getting tackled by the opposition players. It was not pretty to watch them, that too after so much expectations had been built up.
The only time that team played well was during the AFC u16 Championship in Goa in 2016 where we gave teams like Saudi Arabia a scare in the group stage. But that was under the german coach and at a time when those players still had discipline. But then players rebelled, coach was removed and we had a useless fuddy-duddy like Matos being appointed which actually made the players worse.
The u16 squad under bibiano reached AFC u16 quarterfinals.. Logically when that squad pepped up with u17 world cuppers, with many playing in ilgue, must atleast qualify for AFC u19 championship.. Let's see this November when the qualifiers begin.. Hope they do well in SAFF.. Pinto has taken Narender despite knowing tat India has a world cup qualifiers in Nov & he won't be available.. Looks desperate to win something
From the WC squad they only have Jitender, Ninthoi and Jeakson remaining. Of that only the former 2 are playing well. Rest is a lot of newly scouted and fringe players who have grabbed their chances like Sumit Rathi, Amit Mishra..I think Amarjit can make a big difference but I highly doubt he will recover in time
