Boys the reason aussies have changed it is because as per world cup qualification rules, the winner of that region used to play the 3th or 4th of either Asia or South america to qualify. always thought that was the reason. However in our case SAFF itself is 8 countries strong and makes sense to have these SAFF games on a regular basis. Playing against West asia or asean countries can be done if you play your friendlies in FIFA match days.

Better Chance of qualifying to the world cup, The reason is the Winner of OFC needed to play with either an Asian team or a South American team to qualify for the world cup. They failed twice to get into the world cup due to this if my memory is correct (Once against Japan & Another against Paraguy??)</div><div>3.) Access of A league teams to AFC Champions league and AFC Cup which gives better revenue for its league</div><div>4.) Australian Players will now be classified as Asian quota players (Similar to EU/NON EU) players. Registration is simpler and players have a better chance to play competitive football in Asia easier than ever before (Note- I-League uses this quota immensely to its benefit as well as the benefits to aussie players)</div><div><br></div><div>None of these will help India if they switch over to Asean, They will still struggle.</div>
