MPL: Aizawl FC goes on Top with a draw
    7th November 2012 at 8:33 pm by michael.lalremtluanga

The first match of the Round 3 of Mahindra 2 Wheelers Mizoram Premier League between FC Kulikawn and Aizawl FC ended in a goalless draw. FC Kulikawn midfielder Rohmingthanga was the Man of the Match.

Aizawl FC goes on top of the league table with 5 points while FC Kulikawn sit on the third spot with 4 points.

    The Starting XI:
FC Kulikawn : Ramhlunngaia (GK), Lalramchullova, Lalnunpuia, MS Dawngzela, Vanneihtluanga, Lalchhuanmawia, Lalhungchhunga (R.Lalnuntluanga), Rohmingthanga (Captain), B.Zoramthara, Suresh Singh, Kelechi Kingsley (Lalramliana)

Aizawl FC : Issac Vanlalpeka(GK), Imanuel H.S Lalthazuala, Ricky Lallawmawma, Malsawma Chhangte, Zohmangaiha Ralte, R.Lalrammawia (Brandon VL Remdika), Francis Zonuntluanga, Lalrinliana, Zoremtluanga (K.Lalrintluanga), B.Malsawmzuala (Captain) (H.Lalnunzira), Michael Lalremruata

The two teams have speedy wingers who can change the game and that was exactly how they played, utilising their wingers whenever they can. But the full-backs were doing their job and the wingers from both the teams could not really make their mark in the game.

FC Kulikawn had given a free role to Lachuma who played just behind their big target man Kingsley. But the big striker failed to make any impact on the game and he was substituted at the end of the first half.

The game was played at a slow pace and the players were not at the top of their game. Aizawl FC attacked more using their wingers but they could not created any goal scoring opportunities for their strikers to finish.

FC Kulikawn seemed to get more of the ball in midfield thanks to Rohmingthanga, but they too failed to make any chances. There were very few goal mouth actions and the first half was not played up to the expectations.

The fans were expecting a better second half but the dull pace of the game continued even in the second half. Chances were few and far in between and the goal mouth actions were no more than the first half.

Aizawl FC got more of the ball in midfield through Francis in the second half. But FC Kulikawn were up to the task and the ‘midfield battle’ was almost interesting until the two teams started to play a long passing game that makes the game dull again.

The two teams have known each other too well and were probably too cautious to be adventurous. They settled for a point with a goalless draw when the match ended.

the fact that they made it to the final stages of 2nd division last season made us think they could get this tournament..

if aizawl is the only team gonna be participating in 2nd div... they should the best players of the league so could challenge better
