Come this October 5th, India will be hosting its first ever FIFA U-17 World cup in the sub-continent. The football fanatics in India are gearing themselves up for this massive event that would help put Indian football on a global platform. Just like every other big event that has been organised in India, the government planned a grand opening for the event for the first ever FIFA World Cup as well. The idea was proposed to FIFA who were completely against it for an opening ceremony.
So, what happens now? The host nation would have to spend out of its own pocket and shell out the needed amount to host an opening ceremony of such grandeur. The venue for the opening ceremony has been set as Dhyanchand stadium int he capital. This decision was taken so that the pitches do not get affected by these programs. FIFA had cited many rules and regulations regarding an opening ceremony, but the Indian government is in hell-bent on organising an opening ceremony with the limelight on PM Modi, speaking about the development of Indian football in the recent years and how far the country has come in terms of football.
With all the plans in place for the opening ceremony on October 5thand with the news coming out that the FIFA has rejected India’s idea of an opening ceremony, the government is perplexed by the stringent measures that the FIFA has been employing. Will the government succeed in persuading FIFA to get approval for an opening ceremony? The fans are not buying too much into this issue as they’re eagerly waiting to watch the Young colts play against the likes of USA, Ghana, and Colombia.

i hate opening ceremonies in India, it's in our culture to chest thump, sing praises and do idiotic self boasting.
Worst we will see the same cockroaches like Priyanka, Katrina, what's his face Dhawan and Alia who make u cringe while Footballers go the background.
Worst part is it becomes a ceremony of Favors, u scratch my back and I scratch urs.
People will remember tournaments for it's memorable matches and experience not which star came and shaked a leg.
FIFA is right that we need to focus only on the opening match rather than crap in skimpy dresses.
