ISL just comfort football: Igor Stimac
    http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/articleshow/91931307.cms?utm_source=contentofinterest&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=cppst

when a player receives a pass, he has enough time to think about his next move. But in international football, you don't get that time. You have to make an instant decision and move on

so you have observed the issue faced and now its on you to follow it up with players.

The Croatian legend clearly feels India's top league is really of a modest standard. He has his reasons for it. "When I was coming g to India as the coach, many people told me I was lucky as I have 1.25 billion options to choose from. But when I came here, I realised I have 10 teams to choose from and a pool of 50 odd Indian players, who are mostly goalkeepers, defenders or defensive midfielders."

this is the most bullshit comment which all the foreign coaches speaks of. Indian population doesn't mean all of them are playing football.

The key positions in almost all ISL teams are taken by foreigners "who had nowhere else to go and who are here for the salary." Although Stimac does not want to lecture the ISL coaches, but added that if he was one, he would be working hard with the Indian players.

LOL. why would a club coach play an Indian in key position until it is not a compulsory rule. ISL has some good forigen players here too. The foreign players at KBFC were totally dedicated to the club. It doesn't look that they have nowhere else to go. Roy Krishna is miles head of Manvir Singh at ATKMB. Despite the age, Ogbeche is top scorer at Hyderabad.

"As a national coach, I don't have a ready pool of players," he said. "I have to pick players from these ISL teams and I have to take what is offered to me."

LOL. you said anyone with Indian passport is eligible to play for NT during I league inaugration ceremony before the pandemic.

"I know every I-League coach feels his team has 2-3 players who can be in the national side, and I wish that was true. But let's be realistic. Gokulam's win against ATK  was great, but if you asked me, they will win one out of 10 of such games and that was the one."

LOL. then why didn't you ask for a competiotion involving both league teams. Football is all about how one team fares in a day. Past records donesn't matter. In EPL, Man UTD lost 4-0 to Watford, Briighton etc.

Stimac accepted the India assignment for the challenges that the country can throw up. "Expectations are very high, but options are limited, so is the base. It's a challenge I would like to take up," he said. He has already identified a pool of youngsters for the future, but is wary they might fall into the 'ISL trap' of high salary and comfort. "Some players from the Indian Arrows and U-17 project are very talented and have huge potential. But then, if they get used to high salary and the comfort that comes with it, half of them might disappear."

LOL. do you know how much IPL junior players make. And doesn't one want the Indian parents to allow their child to take up football as career.

The coach feels just one good result can turn it all around for India. With the  qualifiers taking place here later this month, he is optimistic India will qualify for the main event. And that one good result might just be round the corner.

Yeah if India doesn't make then you should go out. Enough of the excuses.

RANGERS are today delighted to announce a new strategic and commercial partnership with the All India Football Federation - the governing body of Indian football.

As a FIFA and Asian Football Confederation member, the AIFF oversees all football in India, including the Indian National team, Indian Super League, I-League and the Super Cup, as well as managing the women’s teams and youth national squads.

Building on the club’s existing partnership with leading Indian Super League side Bengaluru FC, this new and exciting partnership with AIFF will see Rangers further grow their footprint and commercial ventures in India.

Rangers will deliver a wide range of programmes to support thousands of Indian coaches covering areas such as talent identification, scouting and analysis. A group of AIFF coaches and members will be travelling to Glasgow and see first-hand the coaching and facilities at Rangers.

James Bisgrove, Commercial & Marketing Director at Rangers, commented: "The partnership with the AIFF, alongside our strong cooporation with Bengaluru FC, will provide a renewed focus to our activities in India, which is an integral pillar of the club’s international strategy.

"Indian football continues on a rapid growth trajectory and we’re excited by the potential commercial opportunities that are emerging.

"The first Rangers Supporters’ Club was recently formed in India and, as the restrictions of the pandemic are removed, we’re looking forward to expanding Rangers’ presence in the market.

"We’re incredibly excited and proud that Rangers can play a role in the continued growth and development of Indian football alongside our partners in the region."

Savio Medeira, Technical Director and Head of Coach Education, AIFF, said: "I am honoured that Rangers FC have signed an agreement with us. We are trying in our own way to be self-sustainable in various technical programmes. The association with this historic club will add extreme value to our coach education programme, scouting processes, talent identification, and analysis amongst others, all in our endeavor to move forward together.

"The exchange of coach education programmes will benefit Indian football immensely as our coaches will be able to learn and interact with the best of the world."

Gary Gibson, Head of Soccer Academies and International Relations at Rangers, continued: "We are delighted to join the AIFF in this new partnership as the club continues to drive forward our international strategy.

"Football is growing rapidly in India and this partnership will provide both Rangers and the AIFF with a number of opportunities as we look to provide support to coaches and members.

"We will work closely to assist with coach education and we look forward to welcoming representatives of the AIFF to Glasgow later this year."

Mandar Tamhane, CEO Bengaluru FC, added: "The partnership with Rangers was forged with an aim to help Indian football, and not just Bengaluru FC.

"So, to see this strategic and commercial tie up with the AIFF take shape, gives us a deep sense of satisfaction.

"We know what Rangers bring to the table, and I'm certain that the AIFF and the coaches in India will benefit from this in a very big way."

As I had speculated, AIFF has acted decisively to restrict attendance in YBK at 12,000 so that the Indian national team do not get home advantage.
This, when IPL went on without any restrictions.
