regarding disbanding of arrows project, i welcome that decision if a proper youth league plan is already prepared. even a zonal level youth league is enough instead of going pan indian. the winners of zonal level can play round robin matches at a single venue.
"The performance target is to be top-eight in the competition. If that target is achieved, then automatically the contract will be extended to another competition whichever is the priority for AIFF"
>> this is good decision as some 8,9 months are there to begin for the tournament and if the coach is changed now, it breaks the existing team structure. anyways top 8 is too much ambition from AIFF committee.
Before branding IL unprofessional, unsuccessful and unpopular, we should bear in mind that it is an open ended league without any preconditions. Anybody can form a club and get entry, through lower divisions. Of course, the level sucks, but so does the standard of Indian football. A country's league is as strong as its football power, and vice versa.
ISL on the other hand is synthetic, unsustainable in addition to having all the attributes of IL, that is, unprofessional, unsuccessful and unpopular. It is synthetic because it is a tournament fabricated by a few people, not having any connect with with the fans, purely commercially driven. It is nonviable because the all the clubs are in red. So much so it can not think of expansion even after so many years. It is also predatory in nature in the sense it is eating up other football tournaments and even the NT matches. ISL brings benefits to their owners only, nobody else. Biggest loser is Indian football overall.
I don't know why such a destructive tournament is allowed over a natural (although weak) IL, unless AIFF is legally and financially bound, or are blackmailed/ bribed.
Kalyan Choubey couldnt even get into NT playing XI ever! Only difference with PP is that Choubey did play professional football at India's top clubs as first choice keeper for years. He has 0 administrative experience. I am more than ever convinced entire AIFF should be a private body like BCCI.
I am more concerned about people like Vijayan in the technical committee. They may have been good players but I doubt they know how to manage a committee
On one hand, Stimac and AIFF never consider I League footballers for National Team. They are not even seen in the stands for scouting. But Stimac wants I League to have only Indian players ? This sounds illogical
