Level of Asian Football has risen a lot in last few years. Australian and West Asian footballers are as good as any other confederation. I hope they keep the Asian signing rule. We are getting younger and fitter foreign players due to asia rule.
According to this report, relegation in ISL to start after the number of teams reaches 14. As one team from the I-League is to be promoted to ISL each year, the number of teams competing in the ISL would be 14 in the 2025-2026 season (this year the number of teams would be 13, including the newly promoted MSC). So, relegation could start from the next season, i.e the 2026-2027 season.

Coming back to 14 team league after 12 years. ISL took a long time to get here. They spent the first 5 years killing every other clubs. If they had this vision, they could have made this transition a lot smoother. Also, one thing that is missing is they should force ISL clubs to spend 1Cr atleast on youth development and infra. Every season the ceiling keeps going high for salaries but no significant investment on youth by ISL clubs.
Also, sometimes the licensing is questionable by AIFF. This year's results are posted here only Punjab have passed the premier license(good for them)
Clubs Jamshedpur FC, Odisha FC, Kerala Blasters and Hyderabad FC failed to get the Premier 1 club license. They seem to be the clubs with training pitches and all other infra but they still failed this year. If that is financial that is understandable but that is not the case.
Comments
1. Asian signing not mandatory
2. Salary cap increase from Rs 16.5 crore to Rs to 18 crore 3. Two players from each club to be outside the salary cap
