For this new stadium, 13 crore rupees grant has been given by Central Government. State Government is building this stadium with 90% funds from the Central Government.
It is upto Meghalaya Government to finish the project.

We cannot compare it to Ahmedabad Fiasco where the cost has gone upwards of 500 crore rupees now. Private party will keep on delaying the project and escalate the price which Government has to give to them.

I will try to answer this. Meghalaya has different indigenous communities like Khasi, Garo, Jaintia people. While Shillong is where State Capital and majority Khasi people reside, Wesstern part of Meghalaya is where Ampati is situated is dominated by Garo People. Central Government funds for North East Development are utilised to contruct Educational Facilities, Medical, Cultural, sports facilities so that no area remains neglected.
Ampati organises many cultural and sports events involving Garo community. A modern Football stadium will greatly help local community.
Do not expect any I-league or International matches there. It should be a small but decent facility.

With local clubs playing in front of packed houses, India’s north-eastern states are home to what will be tomorrow's best football talent.

NE is crying out for a zonal league....avg attendance will surely be better than nita's circus (without the need for 50% free tickets)... 18-20 teams playing home and away for league and cup would be massive.

Agree, a zonal league would be a huge hit there

Why would AIFF allow a Local League there, Only to find this local league has better support than even I-league?
Wasnt that the main reason why they didnt actually support local league there?

NE can be crying for a local league, But you need management and money to keep it running, Plus the different factions in there wont allow it to function smoothly.

That's the most inane arguments I have ever heard from @DX How do you know the factions won't allow a zonal league? So what if it is more popular than ikeague or nita's circus?

What is wrong mate? With MPL Mizoram have just about enough finances to sustain itself and only due to a TV deal they have.
There are just too many State associations and factions in NE football for you to work with despite Football being popular there.
This isnt like GPL where you are talking about one state, Its 8 states and for all its states association to come together and work is beyond the financials that they can muster without the help of AIFF.

With AIFF not able to retain teams in the top tier will they be able to even support or help teams there?

Being popular is one thing, Being Viable on ground is another thing. It can happen but will take a lot of effort.

Unless am wrong on all the above fronts.
