India will now play a friendly against Bhutan away around August 10-11 and till then these 23 players will train in New Delhi. And to help India’s chances in the 2019 Asian Cup qualifiers, the AIFF is also keen that a friendly on a Fifa date is scheduled. It is trying to host Puerto Rico on September 4. Puerto Rico are ranked 112th by Fifa

That match will happen during ISL pre-seasons but being a Fifa date, franchisees will have to release players at least 48 hours before the game. It could mean flying from Europe, as that is the preferred destination for most ISL teams, for a friendly and going back.

Again why Bhutan? Are we not confident enough to beat other SAFF nations? Not even Nepal or B'desh?

Visa is just an excuse. With proper planning, getting visa is not a problem especially if the  squad is in Delhi only. They ddint even try.

    1)  Who will pay-thats the question.
    2) Permission from their Masters is also an issue.

Now they are trying Puerto Rico? Again funding will be an issue.
AIFF should arrange regular Friendlies with Central and South  East Asian teams. Forget these USA dreams.

If we go to P Rico to play the match, we will require US visa, right? Same as Guam. The article mentions some players who are training currently has the US visa which they got when they played Guam away. So, a special visa provided for a match remains valid even after the event and for this long?

"Getting the visas to USA takes a lot of time and we couldn't manage it this time around as there was no official match per say. So we have decided to play a match in Bhutan where the team will also train for two-to-three days. Thereafter, in September we shall play at home against Puerto Rico but we haven't yet decided on the venue," Das told Goal

Some must train with AIFF to learn incompetency. Also to avoid visa problem we will play P Rico at home. I still can't believe how one can even think of a friendly with Bhutan as a replacement for US tour where we weer supposed to play Guyana. It is beyond mu understanding.

I guess look at the bright side of the match against Bhutan, we are bringing an "experimental" side with us for this one so we can work on some new tactics and get some new players into the set-up a little more easily.

I still believe even our experimental side can handle someone better than Bhutan. Anyways you have a point. Not so strong, but nevertheless a point.
