What do these franchises gain from having an I-League team buy a stake with them and vice-versa?

I guess this means we could see Sunil Chhetri in the league after all.

both BFC & PFC won't play in ISL this year...

but advantage for PFC & BFC is...if ISL takes over & no I-League next year... they have an opportunity to maintain everything they have and exist.

Franchises gain from having a set team , no need to pay silly wages for shitty players & benefit form back room staff expertise, which by the looks of things , they sorely need

Wait.... you actually lost me. I thought that through this it would not be the I-League clubs themselves buying the stake but the corporates who own the I-League clubs (so Jindal and Piramal Groups). Also I thought this would mean better access to players already under contract at these clubs, easier access to a training facility and playing stadium. Stuff like that.

On why they picked Lenny Rodrigues:

Here's Bhutia's take on the second round:

Oh check out what Syed Rahim Nabi has to say!

"I always followed (Sourav) Ganguly as a child. But now I can only speak for Mumbai. Thank you."

And, Ganguly is visibly worried after hearing that. What say Kolkata and Mumbai supporters?

    More from John Abraham:

"We have put success secondary. We are not backed by any corporate. We are a team of purists and football must come from the heart. With the U-17 World Cup coming up in 2017, we want to concentrate on young talent.

We want to pull out the talent from U-19 Lajong team and hone those skills. We don’t mind take a beating but would rather have a bunch of north east players who are vibrant and play well

North East United FC owner John Abraham has come out to address the media:

"When we choose players, we will first pick ones from the North East. We think the region is a hotbed for football talent, 70% of the players come from the north east. Most are the enterprising youngsters.

Kanzung Bhutia is an up and coming goalkeeper. Jibon Singh is from Manipur.

We are concentrating on grassroot football. We would like to see stars come out of north east. The two biggest stars belong to north east, Bhaichung and Chhetri.

Hence we chose the north east. We have a partnership with Lajong FC too.

Credit ISL for choosing the north east. North east is the true region where football is born. Cricket is the main sport for rest of the country."

North East United FC announce the signing of Aiborlang Khongjee. He has gone back to Shillong Lajong from Mohun Bagan after the end of last season.

Team Goa pick the experienced Clifford Miranda as a squad member.

Kerala Blaster FC have signed Gurwinder Singh, the Punjab lad who piles his trade for East Bengal.
