Indian Super League Season 1

Indian Super League or ISL has been formally announced. This thread replaces the <a href="http://www.indianfootballnetwork.com/forum/discussion/1170/img-reliance-sponsored-aiff039s-ipl-style-league"; style="font-weight: normal;">old thread</a> on IMG-Reliance's new league. Indian Super League Season 1 will kick off in January 2014 and run till March 2014. The second season of ISL will start the same year during pre-season and the slot will be fixed for ISL next year onward. The IMG-Reliance has partnered with Star India Pvt. Ltd who have the telecast rights for the new league. Indian Super league will feature eight city based teams, each team having 7 foreigners (including 1 marquee player) and 4 Indian players in the playing XI. Only 4 Indian players in the starting lineup is just outrageous.

So... what is with IMG-Reliance stealing my ideas from 2011 and 2012? A franchise league which is pan-Indian with marquee players and supposedly decent foreigners with the name "Indian Super League".<div><br></div><div>Do I get money for this at all?</div>

@arsenalfan sue them , but you will loose as they have shortened it, with no junior set up.<br><br>Btw,if Dhoni is ineterested it would have been great if one of the franchise was Ranchi. It already has a nice stadium to support and there will be people interested to watch soccer there.

<br><div><br></div><div>Ah... they have beaten me there. </div><div><br></div><div>As for Ranchi... considering this is football, a sport which can have leagues which can support at least 20 teams, I am sure Ranchi will get a team in a few years (pending of how well this shit does).</div>

Anyway, Pires and Yorke are too old and have been out of touch. Crespo still might have it. The marquee players doesn't seem that attractive as of now barring Crespo.

<br><div><br></div><div>They are all great players but sadly none of them will be able to come. Based on reports so far, the marquee players are going to be based on who is actually available and none of these guys are. They are all still regulars on their teams and some are even rumored to be going to different, higher-up places. No chance of them coming to India for a 3 month tournament.</div><div><br></div><div>Future marquees for sure though.</div>
