Chopra says after ISL, he will try to get into I-League. Anyways he has no chance to play for England, so he says he is gonna give up his passport and play for India. I know all this has been doing the rounds I don't know since when. But, this is his latest statement.
After coming to India and giving up his passport, he will have to wait for 5 years before getting Indian passport. By that time, I dont think that India Team will want him. This thing has been discussed many times before at IFN. He will not get India passport just because he wants to give up his British Passport. Arata Izumi had to wait 5 years.
@7negi I think that we have discussed this before also and then I posted files of rules. Two months yes after Arata completed his Residency Requirements. Arata was living in India for many years and once he completed his Residency Requirements, he submitted the application and got passport in 2 months. How many years has been Michael Chopra living in India? not even 1 day. Remember that his mother is a white British and father a British citizen of indian origin when he was born. None of his parents were Indian citizen when he was born. Michael Chopra has grandparents who were Indian citizen when he was born. I live in the UK and thus know the rules. PIO card and OCI card do not make any person citizen or eligible to play for India. It takes time. Remember Robin Singh Cricketer??? He was citizen of trinidad and tobago-it took him 5 years to become Indian citizen and thus his debut was when he was 30 plus for India Cricket Team. My old post had all the rules and regulations for Indian citizen. PIO or OCI card do not make anyone Indian citizen or getting Indian passport in 2 months-it takes time.
