@coolgagan. Very well said. The total population of Goa is 14 lakhs. And no sponsors in his right mind will want to engage and spend money to get a few eyeballs. Although we can expect a decent turnout of 15K for the games. Regarding investments, they can make the biggest investments among all 8 but for some reason are not doing it. Maybe its the last season for FC Goa. The only thing that can save this team is that Raj Salgaocar is Mukesh Ambani's brother-in-law.
@Domnic: At least you understood what I tried to say. I was just giving my opinion on this matter. I am not saying that they cannot invest. They are among the richest owners in ISL and I know that very well. What I said was that with less no. of fans, sponsors and team revenue will be not that big as compared to delhi dynamos. So, they will maybe spend less to break even. Well, that is evident in football everywhere. Isn't it??
It was the way you said it that made you get all those downvotes. You practically made people believe you thought that FC Goa would get no crowd at all and that despite the passion the team would see small attendances due to all the other tournaments around.
That is just simply untrue. Goa is still a massive football market in India, even despite it's small population compared to other markets. If FC Goa can do the right things, expand it's marketing to the younger generation, and attract older football fans already then crowds of 10,000-15,000 should be almost expected.
The only saving grace for FC Goa could be if they somehow attract the 15 lakhs or so Goans living in Bombay and can somehow get people to think that they have a big following.
