i think the positives are the averge attendences even till now which is 4-5 times higher than I-league. TRP is higher than even EPL and beats I-league hands down. Its a matter of retaining loyalty and stretching the ISL to 6+ months & to maybe weekend only matches? that should give u a stable base to shoot off from.
note we now have one of the highest averge attendences in asian football. the problem arises when we compare ISL with a world class product in quality like europe and in quantity like IPL. you cant beat these. but is this a bigger step than previously achieved by indian football? Hell yes!! work on it.
@DX ; This Marina Arena before JLN stadium used to be Corporation Stadium where many Cricket Matches were played-9 Test Matches. Thanks to CM Jayalalitha that it was renovated for SAF games in 1995 -opening and Closing Ceremony, Football Finals were played here. Now this present life as ISL venue is its third Avatar. In my opinion, instead of naming after politician, Municipal Corporation or fans made up name of Marina Arena, the naming rights should be sold to companies and that sponsorship money should be used for maintenance and improving facilities at the stadiums.
Two examples come to my mind- Hyderabad Cricket stadium naming rights were sold to Visaka Industries for 43 Crore rupees although later on this contract was cancelled. Same way Pune Cricket stadium was named after Sahara Group although those cheats didnt pay money and their name was scratched. In Europe, so many examples are there where Municipality pitched up funds to construct stadium and then naming rights were sold to recoup the funds. I can provide a list of dozens of them in England only. Here you are not getting even 1 rupee for Marina Arena!!!!
Those Cricket Stadiums are not private stadiums as State Government provides free land. Only true private stadium you can say is D Y Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai.
Del Piero had a major bust up with Coach ladt week ( 3 games ago) when substituted...threatened to quit. .. was talked back by owners.... but started on bench in game vs Goa....
