@Arsenalfan, now we are discussing if the managements of EB/MB can be changed. This is more like it.
If these two are inducted in ISL (or a super ISL), they do not have the capacity or wherewithal to compete there as of now. So they will have to take partners (and rich ones at that). This requirement only will force them to change; that is if IMGR does not lay down any rules to upgrade. So the present kind of management will fade away, and the teams will be like just other teams in terms of management.
And let us not discuss the merger of the two. That will be like Arsenal and Chelsea merging and forming a 'London United' (though that will spread football in England and be a starting point of birth of a footballing nation in England). You agree to this?
And Dempo, Salgaocar in state leagues will be like Man City, Liverpool in Championship!
I don't think anyone wants a merger between East Bengal and Mohun Bagan... just revamps of how they operate.
Based on what I have heard from @Ashlesh and other Goan members I do not see why we can not see the Goan I-League teams moving down... no one cared for them and even though there is some word now there is still a lot more love for FC Goa. They are the main club of Goa and while Goa may soon be able to keep a 2nd team that won't happen for many years.
Going back to East Bengal and Mohun Bagan... are they willing to change? Are the old farts still there willing to step down? I remember asking a question on here asking if it was possible that I could buy one of them if I was a millionaire but told that was not possible because both clubs operate as a board and that there is no real ownership but just a board.
If both clubs are to come up then they would need an ownership like Bengaluru FC or somewhat like the ISL clubs. If they can do that then the next step would be getting rid of Atletico de Kolkata because that will be hard in itself.
What's the problem against ATK?? I know they are just a marketing club. But, isn't Melbourne City FC and New York Fc the same for MCFC?? And they are actually interested in developing the game in India. Obviously, nothing comes for FREE!! So, there you go. Why so much of hate??
New York City FC and Melbourne City FC are farces! First off, what have Melbourne City got? David Villa for 4 games and then he fucks off to New York while in New York they can shitty Manchester City copy kits and a marquee in Frank Lampard who won't even be in MLS when New York City begins play in 2015! This is a New York City team... the media capital of the world... we deserve OUR OWN club, not a shitty copy of a team from Manchester. At least the Red Bulls have invested in the fans, recognized the old history of the MetroStars, and built a stadium and world-class training ground and developed youth academies all over the area.
In terms of Atletico de Kolkata... what the fuck is spanish about Kolkata? Is it really a Kolkata club or a puppet club? It is a puppet club designed to expand Atletico Madrid into India. For now it is nice but if I had the option to add East Bengal or Mohun Bagan instead of ATK then I would in a heartbeat.
