Football: Roca and World Cupper Min-sung among shortlisted candidates for India coach job
Besides Lee Min-sung and Roca, ex-Croatia national team manager Igor Stimac and former Sweden coach Hakan Ericson are also in the fray
The All India Football Federation’s technical committee has short-listed four candidates, including two-time South Korean World Cupper Lee Min-sung and the familiar Albert Roca, for the job of the chief coach of the men’s national team.
Besides Lee Min-sung and Roca, who tasted immense success at Bengaluru FC, the other two aspirants in the fray are ex-Croatia national team manager Igor Stimac and former Sweden coach Hakan Ericson.
The technical committee, headed by former India international Shyam Thapa, will held another round of discussion with the short-listed candidates next week, tentatively on May 8 or May 9.
“It will again be in the form of interviews on skype and then the most suitable name will be forwarded to the federation’s executive committee with recommendations. The executive committee will take then take the final call,” Thapa told PTI.
He added: “We will hold discussions before sitting for the skype interviews. We will also discuss with the AIFF.”
The Indian team is scheduled to play matches in the Kings Cup on June 5 and June 8, and a preparatory national camp will be held under the new coach in the third week of May. The Kings Cup will be the new coach’s first assignment.
Finally some good news !!! These candidates are within the reach and budget of AIFF.
Skype Interview by Technical Committee on May 8 / 9 and then executive Committee will take the final call. There are 18 members in Executive Committee of AIFF.
Guess Roca will be named the coach. Now my question is if Roca is selected then why this sham of 250 coaches applied and 40 shortlisted? AIFF always wanted Roca so instead of all that they should have immediately appointed him after Asian cup and be done with it.
Big Names like Sam Allardyce were not worthy enough to being shortlisted by the Technical Committee !!!!
Probably they wanted delay, saved salary money and they wanted no National Team activity during ISL. So best thing is to delay the appointment of National Coach. In between throw up big names like Sam Allardyce to show Sapney to fans.

If AIFF wanted only Roca, then they wouldn't have done this..
Roca is safe bet,, but other 3 are also good...
