"I don't like what Kolkata has done as a franchise in the ISL. Harping on the European names will lead to dilution of the brand locally. I would want to build my own identity as a team. Ofcourse, technical support and backroom staff are important, but I'm not sure I'd to share the ownership with foreigners who will not share the same passion about the sport as we locals have."
the news is as atk is a member of ifa ( wb) so they have to participate in kolkata league super division, from next season otherwise they will not be allowed to renew membership. sourav hinted a tie up with barisha club for this matter. source : eisamay news paper
It is all a part of IFA's money coercing strategy from the rich Atletico owners. They can always amend their constitution or bend the rule even without that but some money needs to trickle down their pocket. Technically ATK was not supposed to get registered as March is the deadline for new club registration before a season starts. They registered just a month ago but had to pay Rupees 25 lakh instead of the regular fee of a few thousand.
So put a few crores in their pocket and ATK will be free of CFL obligations. In any case, ATK will appl afresh for registration in March next year and then they will have one year leeway. This means they can skip CFL 2015 and have to only worry about it from 2016. A lot of water will flow down Hoogly in that time
yes that's it.they paid 12.5 lakha for first season, another 12.5 for next season, also have to sponsor other tournaments worth 25 lakhs. total 50 lakhs package. regular fee is 101/- per year. :P
