@Ashlesh is right about salaries. Players in other sports get permanent jobs in Police, railway, PSUs so they do not care that much about money. All Hockey Players are either DSP in Police or Railways officers or in OIl Companies/Custom. They get Officer level post even without Graduation and they complete Graduation after retirement of sports. A friend of mine was a Basketball player and he left studies after class 12th and went into sports. He was appointed officer grade in Railway Coach Factory and after retiring from game at 32-33, he completed his degree and joined his post. his salary is like 60-70 thousand rupees per month and all because of sports. This job is for life plus pension, house etc.Football players are not joining any jobs after finishing their playing careers. Cricket-IPL and Ranji give good money. Football players do not have that much luxury like Olympic sports players like Wrestling, Boxing, Hockey in terms of jobs. So they need to utilise this time by getting maximum bucks. So these high salaries are justified.
yeah IPL is taking good care not only of top player but also some unknown player who ends up playing at domestic level only so it is boon for those avg. cricketer...all HAIL! to IPL
as for football yeah they don't have jobs...but the players of ongc and air india teams those players have the jobs....very much like arata izumi when he was in japan...
looking at TOP leaders table 15 names are there..and could make IFN football team....top 11 in starting 11 and guess what if position is decided we have @ronny to take up striker role....don't know sean rooney or wayne rooney...hah....next 4 can be subsitute....
The salaries of the IPL players are known. Many of the back-ups are making $40,000-$70,000... people can survive on that much and that should be the AVERAGE in the I-League.
yeah.....but still unknown ipl guys are known and gets more privilige than popular indian footballer...i've never seen footballer in tv ads...only once i saw baichung doing cements ads....apart from futbal i saw indian rugby team in washing machine ads...
The salaries are just for IPL. As for me, fuck off about that. I dont need to experience Indian football to see that and obviously the salary cap and $40,000-$70,000 would not be the only thing being called out. If it was the only thing I want put out then I would agree with you that I need to experience these players lives but if you asked me, along with what I said above, I would also ask for other things like help with player living (basic) or goal/clean sheet bonuses or things like that.
I know the majority of these players come from poverty but that is no reason to treat them as if they are good footballers who can make great money, they are not, they are rubbish and if we dont address this now then it will only get worse and worse.
