The stadiums that are being constructed are the ones being UPGRADED. Not every stadium will be brand new, they are also upgrading ones to and that is where I am guessing these deaths have occured.
They have not started any "upgrading" yet. Right now even media is guessing without any concrete proofs. same thing happened with commonwealth games in Delhi. Media create some lies and will parrot it till 2022. Accidents/deaths have happened in new construction of residential building, port, oil storage facilities, commercial facilities such as restaurant, banks. One new residential area where people have died while making house, bank has empty space for future construction of stadium. Surely world cup is not responsible for a worker getting heart attack in a bank (Citibank by the way).
saw the interview of sheikh Akbar al Baker on TV recently who is head of Qatar Airways. By the way, can you show me the names of stadiums and exact construction details of Football stadium and how the accident happened and worker died. Surely if media is claiming that hundreds of workers have die due to world cup football, can they name one stadium where worker died and which part of construction of the stadium which will be used for world cup 2022 nd worker died because of that???
There is work going on very slow pace at Al Wakrah stadium and even Huffington Post could not find a single person dead in that stadium becaue of construction of that stadium. Qatar is investing 200 billion dollars on infrastructure (oil money invested) whether world cup is there or not. Worker deaths are due to that construction. workers live in squalid conditions to save money. You will find 15-16 people sleeping in one room. That is not Qatar world cup problem. That is because those workers do not want to spend money for decent living conditions-they instead want to save as much money as possible. Also if employers wish to give more money, locals will work. Workers give money to agents who recruit them and takes a cut. Those agents take passport also.

The world’s largest nations will play almost no part in the World Cup. But there are signs that, eventually, football will become a truly global game
