Last week Barkha Dutt released a tweet on the Kashmir militant Burhan Wani, referring to him as the son of a school headmaster and a social media activist, ignoring the “terror” word altogether. Folks on Twitter were appalled, but by then she had started investigating the effect of pellets on innocent bystanders.
Sadly, the world has been rocked by several terror incidents in the recent past and some other notable incidents in the distant past. What if Barkha were tweeting on the other terror incidents? In fact, let’s make it interesting. Can you guess what incident she is referring to from her tweet? We bring you a selection of plausible Barkha tweets, followed by the incident / event she’s referring to.
Nice, France, where a truck driver drove through a crowd, killing over 80 people, and injuring hundreds.
Dallas, US. The killer of policemen in Dallas used to be an Army reserve and was killed by a robotexploding a bomb, after he assaulted and killed multiple policemen.
Dhaka, Bangladesh. All six terrorists were students/ drop-outs ostensibly from well-off families. One of them reportedly met Shraddha Kapoor once.
Orlando, US, where a gunman stormed a gay club and killed close to 50 people, before being neutralized.

WB's name will be changed to 'Banga' or 'Bangla' is Bengali and 'Bengal' in English. Though it was tried before also but home affairs (central) stopped it. Opinions?
Love the NDTV article: "A big reason for a proposed name change is that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was fed up of having to speak last, or often not at all, at meetings."
And I am generally in disagreement over any name changes. This is because when you change a street name (generally named after a British official), you are wiping out a part of the history. Accepted that the name might relate to some oppression, some defeat, some misery to us. But by renaming it, you cannot wipe the history. Those Brit names are the legacy of our history. If those are not there, then our freedom struggle also becomes ephemeral.
Same goes for 'West Bengal' to Banga/ Bangla/ Bengal. 'Bengal' is basically West and East Bengal together. So West Bengal is not full Bengal, neither is Bangladesh. They are hogging the legacy of 'Bengal', by jettisoning the prefix 'East', thereby owning the identity of the Bengali people. And it is gradually being accepted by the international community. So we, in the Western part, stand in the risk of being marginalized culturally.
If we remain 'West Bengal', it implies that there IS an Eastern part, and together they compose the cultural identity of 'Bengal'. Being at the end of the queue at national forums (the purported genesis of the necessity of name change) can be solved by starting the roll call by reversing the list. This is a weak reason for change of name.
