The words "remote areas" mentioned by Nicolai Adams have significant truth.
In West Bengal young players from Kolkata and near Kolkata have came in last scouting during Nicolai visit in Kolkata. What about rest of Bengal?
I think it is applicable for every state.State association are not bother about scouting players. They need to go each and every Block/Sub-Division level. Then only our scouting will be suceessful.
All these exposure trips and results at U-17 level will go waste if the domestic structure doesn't improve in near future. Lets be honest that 60% of players part of this team may not turn out to be good enough in future.
We need investment at club level, clubs should build good youth structure and provide them with good facilities. Also AIFF needs to improve competitions at youth level. All these things needs to be taken seriously.
I know there is no point in talking this crap right now, but looking at things back home it gives me no hope.
Agree. I am not sure who said it, but someone here said that we need more top youth academies and a youth league so to give these guys competition, not make them complacent and thinking that you have no chance of being dropped from the national squad.
At the same time, we also need to keep in mind that this is development, not winning. If a player is not doing well then they should be dropped and someone brought in till the other player can gain his form.
A noob question, many european giants launched their youth academies here with much brouhaha . Why cant we make a youth league with these clubs + indian clubs . this might also lead to popularity of the league as almost 80% of the urban youth follow european soccer and might come to watch them play generating corporate interest in turn
if the current i-league supply the kind of players they r currently doing for the national team we will be 150-200 for the next ten years.
i will place my trust on the elite academies for now till 2017 wc. i have the feeling even AIFF wouldnt want to embarass themselves and want to give a good account for themselves in the WC.
By 2017 -2018 hopefully we would have a youth structure/league in place so gradually the burden of youth development can be pushed onto the clubs.
By then we should hopefully have 1 league with youth development criteria's and guidelines made mandatory incl minimum training facilities for the youth to come up.
That is not entirely true @Ashlesh. LFCs partners DSK obviously plays in the U19 I-League and I thought PSG had a professional academy setup in place?
It's the likes of Crystal Palace who have training camps to find younger players to send to a longer training camp (Dhrumvil Pandya was the guy selected earlier this year I think).
