@7negi makes a good point. Surely even the AIFF, as incompetent as they mabe, will not risk upsetting the apparent thrust towards good international exposure for India with the U17 World Cup, and seemingly, a bid for the U20 World Cup in the future, by sending overage players? I suspect the AIFF will be very strict about everything for the U17 WC, and will not want to be on the end of bad press or criticism from FIFA.
THE SCOUTING PROCESS WILL CONTINUE, STRESSES NICOLAI
How much of value addition did your scouting effort help?
We have been able to find a few boys. Unfortunately, in all the States I travelled to, we have to deal with the problem of age-cheating.
How much of a help were the regional scouts?
Without their help we won’t be able to find more talent. I believe there are many other good Players or maybe better ones, whom we need to tap.
How did you come to know that the boys were overage?
The boys themselves confessed that they were overage and we did MRIs with them.
So that’s a good addition to the list.
We need to give some time and see how they do. It could easily happen that some of the new boys scouted by us will be send away again if in the next couple of weeks they are not able to develop the manner we want them to. If we find better Players they would be drafted in. The door will always stay open both ways, in and out of the World Cup squad.
There is not much details of the tournament for this year. In general it has been conducted in Spain between the last week of September and first week of October. Some details of the past years can be seen below:
I just hope the players who leave the World Cup Squad are tapped by other academies. Already we have a very limited number of youth players. It would be good thing that those are retained by other academies and increase the footballing base of the country for future.
