Bengaluru FC will not be asked by the Indian FA to release players for the ongoing national camp...
Bengaluru FC haven’t released players for the national camp which started on December 8, 2015. The reason being that their nine players have been fatigued due to the sheer number of matches they have played in and would be released five days prior to the start of the SAFF Championship which kicks-off on December 23.
“As per the FIFA rules, the clubs have the right to release footballers only four days before an international tie. Now the club have agreed to release players five days before the match," the AIFF general secretary Kushal Das told The Telegraph.
He explained that since SAFF Championship isn’t a recognised tournament, the AIFF cannot pressurise the clubs to release players for the camp.
"Moreover, the SAFF Cup is not an AFC recognised tournament. The federation cannot put pressure on the clubs," he mentioned.
It must be noted that India's performance in the last edition of the SAFF Championship was poor despite having made it into the finals where they lost to Afghanistan.
