The SAFF Championship could be played with 5 countries in September in Bangladesh, Bhutan Football Fedaration general secretory confirmed their incapable playing due to their Covid-19 rules and Pakistan won’t participate due to FIFA ban.
The tournament will be held in Sylhet or Chattogram as Dhaka's Bangabandhu National Stadium is under construction now.
SAFF committee is looking for sponsor for this tournament,within 15 days sponsor named would be finalised.
Nepal joins the race to host the 13th edition of SAFF Championship after Bangladesh back off to host the championship.
Bangladesh was selected as the host of the 13th edition. However, with less than 3 months left for the tournament, Bangladesh decided not to host the championship citing the corona virus prevail in the nation. Soon after Bangladesh’s decision, Nepal showed interest in hosting the tournament and the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has already started the preparation.
SAFF Championship 2021 is scheduled to kick of from September 14 to 25.
Apart from the corona effect, Bangladesh cited two more reasons, which are the lack of Sponsorships and the reconstruction of Bangabandhu Stadium.
Along with Nepal, Sri Lanka is also interested in hosting the event.

not a good idea.. Now atleast few folks are interested to watch SAFF championship as it is a tournament.
If it is league, people will lose interest.
