Last question, tell me when I said to favour Goans or pick goan players. If it was regionalistic flare, i would have said select Goans. You are confusing comments of varied people.

  • As for the overage argument, age fraud exists all over India. Insinuating that it only happens in the northeast is rubbish. I remember "gaffertape" telling us how Sukhdev Patil is older than what the records show and "Ashlesh" telling us that Sajid Dhot is overage. 2 players we know of, IF overage, are not from the north east in this team.

Went through the posts, here what I have to say (along with why I have to say so).

Overage players in current youth teams :

I believe that partially overage players might be in this team based on-
    1) The limitations of the MRI scans
    2) Personal communication with two coaches, one involved with one of the AIFF academies.
    3) I would like  to know why woudl people accuse these players to be 25 or something? Such an error in MRI is not expected. What is your explanation in that case? I would have understood if you are saying some of these guys maybe 19-20.

    About the North-East prevalence :
    1) Age cheating happens throughout India, but the extent seems be slightly higher in some north eastern states. This has come up multiple times from multiple sources. I have a reliable source to say that both Jeje and Dika are hugely overage, and you can perhaps see that from their career graph as well.
    2) But to say NE players keep getting selected due to overage is stupid. If that is the case why woudl so many NE player do well at senior level where age doesn't matter. We have always produced decent footballers from NE and that is going to happen in future, perhaps even more. The simple reason is football is the major sports there and people play that game. Some say (perhaps exaggerate) that the NE has much better players than the players who opt for the academies etc. Also there are so many players from NE in different club teams.
    3) You need to remember that age cheating is a issue which stops young players from getting chance from anywhere including young players from north east.

    @rudra

I spoken to a youth coach who is involved in Youtu Development in India and has extensive knowledge of the set up.

One of his former players sent and RTI to AIFF regarding U19 selection and the MRI testing.

I could email this to someone and they can post the response from AIFF....

Basic joat of AIFF response is...we don't test at U19...because it isn't accurate !

Age is based on School Certificate, Class 10th/12th Board Certificate, Hospital / Municipal Certificate? or it is Aadhaar Card nowadays? At Junior level, when a kid has not even passed Class 10th, what is the authentic certificate to show Date of Birth? It is very difficult to produce a duplicate Class 10th certificate with fake date of birth. Same way Duplicate aadhaar card  is difficult to produce. AIFF should base age on such certificates instead of random Municipal or school leaving certificates.
We have some Doctors here on IFN. They can enlighten us on the accuracy of MRI scan.
  • @Domnic please upload the pic of Felda united which you clicked before kick off
We saw the match live yesterday and if you compare the difference can be easily seen
Felda united was like U-16 team infront of these overaged chaps.

@gaffertape yes at u19 the test is meaningless, only before 16 (from what I remember now) it can be useful. But aren't the u14 players tested? Now most players of this u19 team comes from that u14 tested team, isn't it?

I am bit confused about this, please elaborate on this when you get time

let quota politics not touch this game atleast. may the best player get selected in the team. I dont care where he comes from as he is as much an indian as anyone in this country.

NE is the hotbed of talent..i dont mind if we see all 11 players from our NE as long as they perform consistently and get me the result.

The guy who says quota politics here should either be in a hardik patel or a owaisi group or quite simply facebook user.
