I know everyone is upset and they ought to be because of the lofty ambitions we have as these guys r our future. But after seeing the match yesterday the people have been complaining abt India's style of play adopted by Bulpin and bob.But in fairness after watching the match i don't think it was the coache's fault.First of all u need to have the technical ability and skill to play like what u guys r telling them to and in fairness our players lack way behind on that front, bcoz of the faulty coaching in their formative years. So to be fair i don't think Bulpin's side could have played that way. Even before these foreign coaches came how many matches had we lost by 5-0,7-0 to even teams like Malaysia .So lets give him some time bcoz these technical flaws cant be corrected within a few weeks.
but if any new Indian football fan who watched that match would say that i wonder i wanted to support this team which is not able hold the ball even for 4-5 passes....and these performances are doing no good for our sport and the style of play is just adding to it......may be if we had tried to play possessive football....they might have told ...wow we are not that bad, maybe we just lacked the bit of luck........
all here matters is the attitude ,,,,...and we lacked positive attitude and always looking for safety with long balls...... common armando hopes are lying on you to initiate the changes...
absolutely agree with u @shankar..the style needs to be changed right from the initial stages...the aiff need to get all the teams and ask them to implement a particular style throughout all their systems...and if v can sack Bob Houghton i dont see any reason y v cant sack this fellow...and u23 is a very important transition stage into the senior team.and if they are thought to play this type of football then it will b very tough for colaco to teach them a totally new style!...and another important thing is coaching..v need to get few proper for foreign coaches who not only teach the style to the players but also to the indian coaches(its called feeder system) so that they can teach it to their players....this is now being started in indian basketball..and is see no reason y it cant happen in indian football!
@somesh very nice article..the only thing that i disagree with u is that u said v cant play possesion football...but the fact is v have never ever been taught to play such a game so you never know whether v r good at it or not...all im saying is that even to fail u need a chance!
Good article. Loved it. ( I got butterflies a day before the match. Hope 'heavens' interfere in the return leg. Only GOD can save us now in our football olympic dream)
