Just wanted to add. BCCI still selects players based on the performance in Ranji trophy or Vijay-hazare trophy or other lesser known domestic competitions. The talent pool is developed based on the sustained performance in these domestic competitions than just based on IPL. On contrary, IPL selects players based on the performance in these competitions. So, in all IPL didn't bring-up new talent or developed new talent. Just that common folks follow IPL more so we are aware of them more. If one follows other domestic competitions they will know the names much better. So IPL has not helped in Indian cricket in terms of development. But they have helped in providing better living opportunity to non-international domestic players and financial power to BCCI.

@Nagendra, HIL is not the only reason for India's improvement. There are other factors as well. In fact, HIL has only a minuscule role. Plus HIL started with a blank sheet in front of them (there were no domestic club hockey league). HIL did not do any disruption. Same goes for IPL also.
I agree... we cannot give entire credit to HIL...but many players come through HIL ranks or atlleast we got to know them after HIL.. Also I see lot of improvement of our team after HIL..
IPL was never about development of cricket. It was all about cashing on the hype created when Dhoni & co. won the inaugral t20cup. All the so called IPL discoveries came through systematic age group progression. Infact IPL ensured that we would never see a class player like Dravid again. Well for HIL i definitely believe its a step in right direction. Infact the performance of the team have risen by a couple of notches. Counter attacking, overlapping are better than it was a few years back.
On the Gurpreet thing. If he sign for ATM, it will jnot be to play for them. ATM sign plenty of good players from crappier leagues and some make it to play in their C team, while some they just sell off after loaning out for couple of years.
I can see him playing in India if he decides to sign for ATM through ATK. I would suggest he stay there for the rest of the season and try and force his way into the starting lineup. If it doesn't happen, he needs to talk with his team and ask them what their intention is with him.
