Also I did mention that this year marquee rule is better... What I mean is, in longer run, once the league extended in 2017/18, instead of spending big on 1 player, teams needs to spend wise in getting quality players... Spending 10 CR one player is not good in longer run...
@red_devil Yeah he can be Marquee,don't ask me why teams didn't sign him . There is nothing wrong in signing lucio or Aaron Hughes as well. Aaron hughes is cheaper,and lot of experience in defense ,still playing for national team i guess so there is no question on him ,Part of national team in Europe speaks a lot.
Lucio did great last season , played so many 90 minutes games,they are runners up last season . Coach have confidence and zico wants continuity as well ,bcos of shortest format .
More team prefer to sign the players who are already played in isl .

Its ok if ISL has introduced new football fans to Indian football.No harm in that. But fans need to understand that the way we are heading regarding marquee signings, its better that we dont have this marquee rule at all. In 3rd and the upcoming seasons viewership will totally rely on quality of football. I think from future seasons IMG-R will be more lenient on this.
If IMG-R had allowed , maybe ATK would have made Borja as a marquee today. He was 33 in season one. Borja became a fan favourite at ATK, captain of the team and has consistently been one of the top midfielders in ISL. The guy has experience of playing in Champions League, Europa League, Copa Del Rey. If Postiga wasnt signed, I wouldnt have any problem making Borja the marquee of ATK.Invest the remaining money on some younger recruits. IMG-R needs to think about this . Maybe allow some players who are doing well in ISL be considered as marquees in the future seasons. Maybe consider "Hero of the League" as a marquee in the following season. Even from a marketting point of view Iain Hume(2014) and Stiven Mendoza(2015) would be precious to any team than most of the marquees that are being currently signed.
Stiven Mendoza and lain Hume is marketable in india after there performance , marquee == legends ,icons ,face of the league . What you do with mendoza and hume outside of india. you need to define these legends,icons,face of the league . You need to make a rule , So players who played for national team and played in big leagues considered as a requirement. All the marquee singing needs to get approval from ISL . You get forlan ,lucio,riise ,zokora or hughes ,difference in quality or popularity ,but all of them full fill the marquee's rule and That's it.
