Kingfisher East Bengal officials showed another disgraceful gesture towards their players, as their star players like Mehtab Hossain, Arnab Mondal, Narayan Das, Md Rafique and Subhasish Roy Chowdhury and Goalkeeping Coach Abhijit Mondal had to face terrible situations to come back to the city after losing against arch rivals Mohun Bagan in the Federation Cup semi-final. They players came from Cuttack with unreserved railway tickets in general compartments at Janastabdi Express and Indian national team players like Arnab Mondal, Md Rafique and Narayan Das didn’t even have the seats to relax after such a high-voltage encounter.
The things got worse when the Mohun Bagan fans identified the stars and started to take selfies with them. Narayan Das had to sit on the floor on his kitbag and Rafique, Samad, Abhijit Mondal and Arnab had no seats to get the comfort. Only Mehtab and Subhasish got the seats to relax a bit. The pictures became viral on social media as the Mohun Bagan fans started criticizing the officials of their arch rival club for that lacklustre attitude.
Though East Bengal midfielder Mehtab Hossain told www.xtratime.in , “The club is not responsible for this. We requested the Assistant coach to let us go, as we had office games. The club tried to arrange flight tickets for us at the last moment but couldn’t quite manage it. We were offered to go by a volvo bus but it could take around twelve hours to reach Kolkata. So, we decided to go by a train.”
Ironic that all have office games......was it not known earlier ? One Bengali paper reported today that EB booked flight tickets for 22nd .....don't know the authenticity of such report. But it does look a bit odd that players had to rush for the "office game". What happened if both BFC & Mohun Bagan lost yesterday ? Mr. Mehtab & co would have travelled like this ...played for office & come back by 17th. to play the Final on 18th. ???
I have a question...maybe not related to this thread...read in almost all the Bengali newspapers that when Morgan was sacked, Abhijit was also shown the door...But we see him every time on TV sitting on the East Bengal reserve bench and being mentioned as the goalkeeper coach. Have I missed something or is he turning into another Alvito?

It has a huge Football ground and one of the best in eastern India. Nehru stadium has various Sporting departments like Cricket, Boxing, Volley Ball, Basket Ball,Body Building, Power Lifting and Athletics. It has a very nice Athletic track and good coaching for Athletics. It also has a huge Modern Gymnasium with many modern machineries fitted for various exercises. ASP STADIUM Alloy Steel Plant Stadium(SAIL) is another important sporting facilities available in Durgapur. It has many departments of sports among them Athletics, Football, Cricket, Volley Ball and Basket ball are prime.ASP boasts of many famous athletes. ASP stadium has a very fine modern Gymnasium.
SAHID BHAGAT SINGH STADIUM Bhagat Singh Stadium is situated in the Piyala More, City Centre, Durgapur-713216. This Stadium is a newly constructed one and is run by Durgapur Municipal Corporation. It is under construction now but already a very nice football ground and athletic track has been completed. Its football ground is one of the best in Durgapur and is well maintained under specialised persons.
SIDHU KANU INDOOR STADIUM Sidhu Kanu Indoor Stadium is one of the greatest Indoor Stadium in eastern India. It houses many sporting organisation and sporting association of Burdwan district as well as of Durgapur. Among them Durgapur Sub-divisional Womens Sports Association, School Sports Association-Durgapur Sub-division, Burdwan District Badminton Association, Burdwan District Table Tennis Association, Burdwan District Physical Culture Association are few to name.
Stadium is good (in indian standard), a shade better than YBK before decking up for WC. Maintenance is somewhat better. MB Academy uses this facility often.
