What to say about Manvir. What ever minutes he played today, he impressed me. He has all the attributes a good striker needed. He has pace, good height, Ruthless approach. We got a uncut diamond. He needs to polish his skills. Hope he will get game time with FC Goa.
You could tell how shit we played by seeing the shots of the Mauritian forward... A 2-1 scoreline against this team isn't worthy of any applause...though some individual performances were good.
It's a friendly and is a good workout. Exposes some chinks but enough to get the win.
Subrata - Couldn't do anything for the goal. Could have tried Amrinder and Albino either half as he didn't do much except that goal let.
Pritam - Exposed on his defensive skill when Jacki didn't support him. Goal and most chances came from his side. He needs like a Narzary to help him. Not sure if that's good for the team.
Anas - Decent outing except that deflected goal?? Or was it Narayan kept company with Sandesh in being solid.
Sandesh - Solid at the back and put in some good challenges in air and in the ground. Good match
Narayan - Was ok especially when Narzary supported him. Put in a couple of good crosses. Apart from that kept it tight.
Rowlin - Had a excellent game shielding that defense. Perfect weighted pass for the first goal.
Eugene - Worked with Rowlin well, Couldn't drive forward much and passes weren't coming along. Not sure playing deep is his strength. He is still a luxury for India unless he is playing at a advanced role ahead closer to the strikers.
Narzary - Surprisingly excellent performance tonight. Played his heart out. Was aggressive ,tracked back well and was a menace cutting supply down the left. One who has certainly modified his role from a proper winger to a defensive winger
Jacki - was doing too much when he had the ball, put himself and put Pritam under pressure when losing the ball. Pace is all fine but a lack of tactical interplay is what is always the issue with him. Fortunately SC doesn't seem to exprement that position.
Robin - was actually decent that he won most headers, was physical with the defenders. Was almost sure he will miss again when he took the extra touch but squeezed it through. Good option to have but won't displace Jeje as second striker.
Jeje - Class showed with decent touches, Chest ones , Layoffs and interplay. Pretty little flick for Balwant to score. Unlucky not to get himself a goal but a decent performance. Pace is gone but if he can still supply it good enough for the near future until the Asian cup qualifiers.
Balwant - Took his goal well and played his part, Seemed to tore at the end despite being on pitch for 45 mins. Good for experimentation but would like to look at someone young to take his place.
Positives for SC - Fitness, Subs doing well, Two other strikers scoring goals, Narzary, Rowlin, Sandesh and solid defense. Plus 9 wins on the trought!!
I think we were vastly overestimating ourselves. We ain't a 90's team and not are they a 160's team. It was a struggle. They knit some good passes in the first 15-20 mins and their goal was well taken when they took advantage on the right wing which was poor today.
in the end fitness helped. Plus it's just a friendly. We won it without Sunil or Gurpreet, Plus we know our Right wing is poor. Lot of learning today.
Nikhil Poojary was good and as Paul Masefield had pointed did the very same things Jackichand didn't-get over the defense. Did you all notice how he managed to pull the ball out from a very narrow space among defenders on right flank?Never saw Jacki doing that!
