  • Ranty is reportedly asking as much as Odafa got. Dont think EB officials will spend that much for him.

If the rumors r true, then Odafa is getting almost $1/2 Million a year !! ( if u include the apartment, Mercedes, etc )
Even if Ranty is asking for near that amount its ludicrous !!

For that much one get a player from the Dutch 1st division or other European 2nd Divisions.

The top Indian foreigners could play in Europe, maybe 2nd Division in most countries or top division in Sweden etc.
Are MB going to get Value for money ??
Prize money for winning the I-league is 50 lakhs , no wonder these clubs can't improve their Youth Academy.

Maybe MB are fullfilling Blowmicks prophecy that they are the Real madrid of India <!-- s:lol: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif" alt="" title="Laughing" /><!-- s:lol: -->

I dont think players from second division European Clubs will come to play in India even if they are offered same amount of money. Odafa is a much, much better striker than Dudu who played in Champions League with Hungraian Champions Debrecen FC.

Also I dont think Kolkata clubs look for value for money during transfers - simply because the "club" doesnt sponsor these transfers from its revenues (if there's any such thing in first place). Money for these transfers and player salaries are usually paid by rich members and officials.

And yeah I agree on youth academy point. Mohun Bagan-SAIL Academy is struggling for lack of funds but the club can afford to spend crorers on Odafa.

Would agree that Odafa is better than Dudu , but Hungarian football is probably one of the weakest leagues in Europe.
Odafa wouldn't start for a top Swedish, Danish team that are in the Champions league. His style of play only suits Indian football.
Note Chettri can score 7 goals in half a season in I-league but wasn't good enough for MLS bench , BUT he will get more at MB than if he signed for an MLS team !?

I see what u mean about the money as I just read this thread & now it makes more sense:

We should have a salary cap for clubs in India, the current system is not designed to help Indian players develop & progress.
What have Odafa & Ranty etc done for Indian football, at least Barretto has been a more positive influence and a true pleasure to watch

exactly,we should be having foreigners as those players who can influence our young players to get the best out of them and who can play best possivle football to attract the indian followers.....

East bengal is in talks with aussie striker Robert Younis. Robert played for AFC champions league and a-league side Adilade utd fc.

Is that news is confirmed??.............I heard that eastbengal is talking with ranti martin.........other wise any player from serbia...........pls get update
no boss... East bengal never approached ranty. That news was total fake. East bengal officials are looking for a new foreign face in indian football. And they have also decided not to pay him more than current 3 foreigners. Few bio-datas are already been taken seriously by eb management and coach. This guy robert younis is one of them.

Odafe Okolie's replacement at Churchill is a striker with a knack for scoring goals. Churchill are only a signature away from securing the services of Gabon striker Henri Antchouet . The 32- year old striker started as a precocious youngster in Cameroon, then moved to Portugal where he stayed for six years, before moving to Spain, Romania , Greece and Saudi Arabia . He last played for Portugual's second division side Moreirense FC.
